Ooooh.
Heh, thanks. Sorry about that.

...that walking "cycle" isn't even halfway complete

Quick custom. Had fun, sorta.
Hope you guys like it.

If someone could animate the walking... cycle, it'd be much appreciated.
I'm not sure why people do this. When spriting in a game specifically like Mario, I'd find it a good idea to learn as much as you can about how the sprites work in game. Super Mario World sprites (and pretty much any 8 bit, 16 bit, GBA, etc. game) are made up of 8x8 tiles. Most of the basic sprites in SMW don't exceed 16x16 either. I'd imagine a Strollin' Stu being 32x32 pixels, much like the Mega Moles.

It's not hard to follow a games limitations and make a good sprite at the same time, so I don't see why people rarely do it. Sad

That's what custom spriting is for, isn't it?
To go past the boundaries of the game itself?
At least, that's how I take it.

We went over that.
I'm going to fix it soon.

Not always

you can make custom sprites that fit into an already-made style. When you name your thread 'Strollin' Stu SMW', we expect to see SMW-style Strollin' Stu, not a custom-styled one.

RE: Strollin' Stu SMW - JackMan - 07-21-2010

Well
I was sort of trying to make a SMW one
But, heh, it didn't turn out that way Tongue

Heh, if you want to make something in a particular game's style, you're not meant "To go past the boundaries of the game itself", savvy? Wink
Because otherwise there's no real chance for it to fit in.
Still, it's up to you whether you want it to be in SMW style or not! Just don't make false promises ;D

RE: Strollin' Stu SMW - Cobalt Blue - 07-21-2010

half of this thread's problems would be cut if we remove the "in smw style".

and actually i did it.

keep working on making a fully walk cycle op, at least you can try to complete that. i'd recomend getting a gif animator and/or learn how to animete those frames so you'll see your own flaws in the process.

RE: Strollin' Stu - JackMan - 07-21-2010

Okay, a walk cycle.
Anything else wrong? Colors, perhaps?

RE: Strollin' Stu - Maneko - 07-21-2010

I already told you that his pants should be red, like Mickey Mouse's.

RE: Strollin' Stu - JackMan - 07-22-2010

Sorry... Forgot. I'll do that. A simple recolor would be in order, right?
With the cycle included, of course.

RE: Strollin' Stu - Cobalt Blue - 07-22-2010

point is there isnt much to add to this. either finish the walk cycle and make it match the original's colors, os just discard it and start something new.

wich would be a very healthy thing to do also.

Something tells me eventually i'll scrap it
But there's no point to leave it as bad as it is now;
I fixed the "cycle," which isn't really a cycle anymore, it's just a loop like the goombas are.
