But.
How would you know when to hit? There's nothing indicating when your (Insert weapon here) will hit them, is there?

Ooh, I know another good topic that isn't necessarily big enough to start a THIRD thread on.
What, do you think, Giygas is?

it's timed to the music
basically you hit the enemy to the beat of the song that's playing during the battle
thats why I said you have to be good; apparently it's hard to hit a 16x combo

RE: Earthbound or Chrono Trigger? - Ton - 07-24-2010

They're both really awesome games. Chrono Trigger is kind of the gold standard for RPGs so it's a bit difficult to appreciate Earthbound if you don't know the tropes involved with the genre first. CT, imho, is the perfect RPG, but it's not my personal favorite. FF6 is my fave.
In fact, play almost any RPG on the SNES and you won't be disappointed. FF4, FF6, CT, SMRPG, and Earthbound are all 5-star games.

RE: Earthbound or Chrono Trigger? - tsr moderation staff - 07-24-2010

if you want to enjoy the timed hits in mother 3, play it on a cartridge. it does not work on emulators

RE: Earthbound or Chrono Trigger? - Vipershark - 07-24-2010

that too
apparently no emulator can play mother 3 at 100% at all times, so that makes it even harder to hit the combo.
even 99% speed throws off the timing.

RE: Earthbound or Chrono Trigger? - GrooveMan.exe - 07-24-2010

Earthbound for setting, Chrono Trigger for mechanics. Earthbound's battle system is entirely uninteresting.

RE: Earthbound or Chrono Trigger? - JackMan - 07-24-2010

Eh. Don't trust Ebay, Gamestop won't have them.
So, i guess i'll stick to Earthbound.
What a shame. Thanks for the advice, though.
Should RPG's have reply value, though? That's something that in Chrono Trigger i wouldn't be necessarily excited in.
Long freakin game, that.

It's a hell lot more original compared to chrono tiger and fucking shitty fantasy if you consider how many mid-evil inspired games there were at the time.

wh
ff6 is the best rpg on the snes what are you talking about

if you wanted to play another boring rpg with fucking knights and dumb shit like that then yes it would be good.

I stopped caring for that kind of stuff because the whole concept became boring after 4.

Oh yeah and I forgot about SMRPG too, that one is pretty good too, but really, get earthbound.

I could list so many reasons why you should get it, one of which is that it's different from the norm. and another is that the whole game proves that gameplay is twice as more important then the graphics (Which, are pretty decent considering how simple they are)

Have you played it on PSP, Emulated? Cause I can nail some good notes on that shit.

Dude
Don't start a fight
If I wanted to play Live a Live, I would
But I have no desire to do so
So... stop.
