RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - Gors - 07-25-2011 Danubine looks better, but make the outline on the wave's crest more erratic and unjoined, like a foam. You may also check her fin positioning, because her right one doesn't look it's on the same place as the left is. Sylphen needs to have less jaggy outlines and avoid outlining the tornado part. It is made of non-solid matter, so it doesn't make sense to outline it. Use more AA inside the sprite too. RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - megaMasquerain - 07-25-2011 Not sure how I feel about this. =/ Mause Rank 4 Someone on PJ suggested replacing the black on some sprites with an outline color and just not using black on those sprites. Since I'm not working within any "actual" limits, I took his advice and edited Danubine a little: Better? Worse? Needs better feet EDIT: Better feet? RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - megaMasquerain - 07-28-2011 Sloag Jestyena. I replaced the white on him with a lighter shade of purple and the black with a darker shade of purple. Still looks kind of bad imo Damn, at this rate TSR's gonna see all the HG demo monsters before the demo comes out. RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - Vipershark - 07-28-2011 the contrast on the yellow spinny guy seems waaaaaaaaaay too high what is sloag even it's so unreadable i can't tell :/ RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - megaMasquerain - 07-28-2011 (07-28-2011, 05:55 PM)Vipershark Wrote: what is sloag even It's a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudibranch from the back, if that helps. I wanted to try and avoid having everything in the same pose but if it's unreadable from the back I'll work on another from the front. RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - Gors - 07-29-2011 the animal itself is almost unreadable even on the photos so I suggest making the guy in an easier position. Maker easier animals with dynamic positions instead. also it looks more like a reptile than a sea slug RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - megaMasquerain - 07-30-2011 Jestyena's not gonna be in the demo so I figure I'll wait to fix him until I have time As for Sloag, again, I'll wait and see if I have time to make a new sprite as the deadline approaches and when most of the other monsters are done. This goes for any major changes/resprites, but I can still make more minor changes to the sprites, and if I get ahead of schedule I can use that time to make changes as well. Bassicore I actually made him from the old silhouette that Chris2 helped me with in my first thread :B RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - Mag - 07-30-2011 I'm liking what I see. Work on the mechanical arm, try to show more contrast in it, so it looks more metalic. Also, try to make it more geometric. If the shoulder-pad is ment to couture to it's body, try to show that, if not, emphasize on it's protrusion. By the way, but all the colors on your new sprites look really weird. Is that because of the game style? RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - megaMasquerain - 07-30-2011 (07-30-2011, 10:05 PM)Mag Wrote: By the way, but all the colors on your new sprites look really weird. Is that because of the game style? Weird how? I'm limiting myself to 6 colors per sprite (two of which are usually white and black), that might mean something? RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - x0_000 - 07-30-2011 Have you considered making the mechanical parts look more mechanical? You can try segment it, make it looks more polygonal, etc. The tail could use some improvement, for example. I'm actually interested in doing some edits, if you don't mind. EDIT: I edited the way the frontal fur interacts with the "bass" leg; to me the way you have it done looks unnatural. I also changed the shading to give the fur more volume below the face. The shape of the back legs are more defined, and the front leg has segmented look. The front legs were also closer together than the back legs, but I'd imagine the front is thicker than the back, i.e. they'd be further apart. Some other ideas that popped in my mind is making the tail look more flexible, it doesn't look like it's capable of bending a lot; you can help by increasing the number of segments. The horns could use more detail as well, look online for animals with horns to get ideas on how to mess with them. RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - megaMasquerain - 07-31-2011 Thanks x0! Left the fur color the same since the face is actually supposed to be a dark grey. RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - Chris2Balls [:B] - 07-31-2011 i hope you and x0_000 don't mind i edited x0's edit to save some time basically i gave the fur a direction, made it hang a bit changed the face and moved it forward changed the tail and stuff to make it look more like a scorpion tail, plus its shell on the chimera's back moved the legs, rotated the plated one to make it look right you could do with looking up some lion and scorpion refs, they're really helpful! i think you can play a lot more with the cyborg aspect, and make the implants blend a bit better with the creature. keep going! These sprites are awesome, masquerain! Keep on improving them because I'm liking this stuff. RE: Pokeymans (and other stuff) - Silverdabolt - 07-31-2011 What happens at 20 post? And should I stat spamming to get to them? |
