RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Butler - 03-13-2012 Looking at the tail towards where it moves behind the dragons foot, the top side is one straight horizontal line, where i think it should be getting a bit wider, maybe with a small downwards arc to make it look more realistic. RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Delicious - 03-13-2012 I kinda see what you're saying, ill fix that... For now, here's what I did RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Chris2Balls [:B] - 03-13-2012 Add some detail on the other parts of the body, but also the landscape instead of focussing on the head. RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Ivyleaf1212 - 03-13-2012 It's turning out to be amazing! What program ARE you using? Just been drilled to the head, trying to spread the love out though. (03-13-2012, 07:28 PM)Ivyleaf1212 Wrote: It's turning out to be amazing! What program ARE you using? Thanks! Using Windows 7 MSpaint - Nothing special. RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Gwen - 03-15-2012 I'm going to show this to my computer design teacher. She called me old school in a demeaning way when I told her I'm an MS Paint guy. "Oh, so you're one of those guys who sticks to the old way? Not many like you, that's for sure." She can suck it, along with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Looking radulartastic, can't wait to see the end product RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Ivyleaf1212 - 03-15-2012 (03-14-2012, 12:47 AM)Delicious Wrote: Thanks! Using Windows 7 MSpaint - Nothing special.REALLY? I can't do anything with MS Paint... Then again, I just need more practice. What is easier, doing the blobs of color then refining it or doing the outline first? I suggest you try both to find out which works best for you - workflow is a personal thing, what works well for one might not work for the other. Can't say much about the dragon picture as it's way above anything I'd be capable to do. Just one thing, I think the far horn atop the head should be slightly visible above the line of the spine scales. At least it seems to me like there's something missing. Glad I can help in defending us unappreciated pixel artists from the horrors of modern ignorant teachers! (03-15-2012, 03:23 PM)Ivyleaf1212 Wrote:(03-14-2012, 12:47 AM)Delicious Wrote: Thanks! Previous is right - it really depends on what is easier for you. My way is by blocking in shapes (not putting blobs, haha) of colour to define the shape and value of the piece. This way also allows for easier tweaking compared to doing line art first. I still have tons to learn, but practice has definitely helped me to progress over the last couple years. Thanks! RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Koopaul - 03-15-2012 I can't image doing pixelart on anything else but MSPaint. Anyway great job, looking forward to seeing more. RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Ivyleaf1212 - 03-16-2012 Yeah, I'll probably find that out soon. I'm probably going to stick with doing the outline first for now, because the idea of refining all those colors and redrawing outlines... Ugh. RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Delicious - 03-18-2012 Thanks! I'm considering making a very violent low-res sandbox (perhaps multi-player) game. There will be more of these type of graphics on this thread until I move into a devlog! Also, I just put these assets together quite quickly, just showing what they look like and not how they'll be setup. I'll make more "proper" mockups once I get more assets done. As many have said before, one's skill is not justified by the programs they use. The program doesn't make the artist. RE: Werewolf (and friends!) - Delicious - 03-18-2012 Mighty Jetters is wise. :-) Also, working on this at a snails pace. Before I work on more assets, I'd like to know if anyone actually enjoys these low-res stylized games? My worry is that pixelated games such as that don't often get as much attention as games with higher resolution or 3D. I'd think it'll attract players from gang garrison and a few pixel communities but won't get much light from those who don't appreciate pixel art. Thoughts? Also, by thanking this specific post is a thumbs up to the idea and thus will motivate me more. Thanks! (P.S. Sorry for the double post) |
