RE: Disney fighting game - Koopaul - 10-08-2012 Hey the idea of a Disney fighting game often reminds me of these hahaha! http://skirtzzz.deviantart.com/gallery/28033591 RE: Disney fighting game - SKELTON S. SKELETON - 10-08-2012 Have you ever designed or worked on a fighting game or project of this scope before? RE: Disney fighting game - -Bwar- - 10-08-2012 Maybe Rapunzel's hair would get shorter as her health decreased, in turn also decreasing range Her defeated pose could be her just becoming her short brown haired self RE: Disney fighting game - Ton - 10-08-2012 With the sprite sheet having to be huge, I think making her hair shrink would be overkill. I do like the short hair thing though. RE: Disney fighting game - Koopaul - 10-09-2012 Just do what you can. We shouldn't be putting so much on his plate and expecting him to eat it. RE: Disney fighting game - SKELTON S. SKELETON - 10-09-2012 The actual foreground of the stages look aesthetically pleasing: It's just that the pillars and gates look relatively flat compared to them. I'd suggest studying some of the animation stills from the olympus sections of the Hercules movies for ways to make them brighter. That movie itself has a lot of weight and meatiness to the characters and environments, so giving things a little bit more body may be a good idea. RE: Disney fighting game - Perseus - 04-26-2014 Hello again I did a lot of thinking about this thread a loooong time ago, and decided I didn't like the way I did the Mt Olympus stage, so I decided to test my Photoshop skillz and try to mimic the style Disney backgrounds are done. Here's my new Olympus! (WIP of course) I've also got base sprites for a few of the characters, um, IDK if they're good or not And here's a whip up of a battle just showing what the sprites look like against the background Obviously I'm not expecting this to be made into an actual game. I just like planning things xD I have very little time to work on this so critiques may take a while to take effect RE: Disney fighting game - Garamonde - 04-26-2014 OH MY GOD IT'S PERSEUS I'm glad to see you haven't given up on this! The only thing I have to say would be, while your hand-drawn/painted version of the background looks nice, it actually kinda clashes with the sprites since they aren't vectors/drawings. I personally think it'd look better in pixels (even though I know it's more work). The character sprites look awesome though. RE: Disney fighting game - Kitsu - 04-26-2014 You could probably just color-reduce it and then clean up the results and arrive at a pretty nice pixel version. But yeah it looks really nice. pete's right arm (the one closer to us) looks kinda awkward and the little tufts of fur on beast's left leg (farther from us) probably don't need to be a lighter shade RE: Disney fighting game - E-Man - 04-26-2014 I'm actually thrilled that all these old threads are getting brought back and updated with good content! Anyway, you're sprites are good, but what is with the color scheme for the Beast's outfit? Wasn't the cloak supposed to be violet or something? Also, besides my suggestion of giving these guys some idle animation to start with, how about throwing in a certain Pumpkin King considering that you're up for fighter suggestions. RE: Disney fighting game - Perseus - 04-26-2014 @Mighty - It'sa me, Pooseus ;P Nice to see you again Hmm, I'll try to find a way to change it to pixels and look good ^^; I avoided pixels at first because I don't think I could get the right look... @Kitsu - That could be the answer I'm looking for I'll try it and see what I get. And yeah, I agree (Peter's arm looks wonky?). I think I fixed them up @E-Man - Thanks Beast's cloak in the film is actually red I can't remember it being violet at any point in the film. I think it's only that colour in the Kingdom Hearts games Yeah I was planning to give them an idle at some point, but I don't want to add in Jack ^^; I'm only doing characters/places from the 53 animated features But thanks for suggesting! RE: Disney fighting game - E-Man - 04-26-2014 Okay, I can respect that! If you ever do another Disney related project, I wouldn't mind if you threw the Skellington in. Well now, considering that I can't remember much from the film Beast was from (which was countless years ago), I only relied on how he looked in his other incarnations. Usually, anything that promotes the Beast show him in his violet cloak instead of his red one. I don't know about you, but I think it's a good look for him. I would go for that, but it isn't my game. Also, when animating the sprites, don't forget to apply the principles Walt Disney's nine old men set in the world of animation. If you're going to do a Disney game, it would be great to honor that legacy like that. RE: Disney fighting game - [robo9] - 04-26-2014 Woah dude, looks amazing. If anything becomes of it, try not to get sued! RE: Disney fighting game - Sevenstitch - 04-26-2014 I was just pondering as to where this got to a few days ago funny how that happens glad to see you still on it I agree with Kitsu on the background; It looks great but clashes with the pixels |
