RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mr. Jam - 02-18-2013 the hat seems to be a little tall rather than luigi himself RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 02-18-2013 (02-18-2013, 08:41 PM)EpicEbilninja Wrote: the hat seems to be a little tall rather than luigi himselfI tend to give Luigi a big-ish hat RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mr. Jam - 02-18-2013 to me, the hat appears to be roughly the size of his head, one of his frames makes his hand seem square, the arms are a little too beefy with the shoulders a bit too high, his head is a bit wide and the changes int the leg animation seems a bit too drastic(but it may look a bit better slowed down) RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 02-18-2013 (02-18-2013, 09:48 PM)EpicEbilninja Wrote: to me, the hat appears to be roughly the size of his head, one of his frames makes his hand seem square, the arms are a little too beefy with the shoulders a bit too high, his head is a bit wide and the changes int the leg animation seems a bit too drastic(but it may look a bit better slowed down) I can totally see those other things (hand's square because of the low contrast with the button, arms being beefy, drastic legs, etc), but Luigi's huge goofy hat is a style thing that I tend to do when I doodle him. WITH THAT SAID RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Previous - 02-19-2013 He's got no neck and his nose is so undefined it could be a blowed-up cheek. The movement of the legs does not match the direction the body faces at all and it looks like they're just pasted over it and not actually connected. RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 02-19-2013 this is one of those rare moments when I see the problem AND the solution clear as day. I think I fixed it, just had to change up the feet a bit (as for the nose that should be obvious and I tried to give him more of a neck) RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 02-24-2013 woops I did it again. this is art for a character select screen for a game back on MFGG. I have the full art without the boxes and everything, so I'll put those up if anyone wants me to. the lighter colors are what the icons flash when they're selected, but when they aren't highlighted it's the darker color. RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Sengir - 02-24-2013 The bottom one is nice, but the others don't really match the quality of some of your other work. It could be that you're used to working at a much smaller scale (like the really cute marios) and are trying to apply the same techniques. (I'm guilty of this too, heh) The shading on the second one is kinda weird, I don't think a hood would look like that if lit the same way as the others. The girl's hair is flat and should be shaded to show texture. Remember: never shade for sake of doing so; shade to show volume RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 02-24-2013 (02-24-2013, 02:03 AM)Sengineer Wrote: The bottom one is nice, but the others don't really match the quality of some of your other work. I added 2 more shades to the hair to try to add more depth, and I changed the shading on the hood a bit. RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 02-28-2013 why do I keep double posting aaa RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Sevenstitch - 02-28-2013 I know the palette is NES restricted, (it seems, at least) but his skin kind of gets lost in his eyes Otherwise, i like them alot RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 02-28-2013 (02-28-2013, 09:35 PM)Sevenstitch Wrote: I know the palette is NES restricted, (it seems, at least) but his skin kind of gets lost in his eyes I tried looking around for a better tone, but I couldn't find one that didn't give him a really bad tan. plus the original Mega Man sprites (which these were based on, not edited from) had the same tone ALSO, RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Garamonde - 03-01-2013 it is true, you can't see the eyewhites that much on Mega Man, but they do actually add something. he looks good seeing just the pupils though heh. RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 03-01-2013 and here's a mockup showing what everything should look like together- EDIT: added hurt poses. RE: SupaMit's Sprites and Such - Koopaul - 03-02-2013 So nice to see some good custom Mario sprites. I look forward to seeing more. |
