Metaru's right, after MMBN4 the series went downhill.

MMBN 1-3 were playable and mildly enjoyable, but I wouldn't play them more than once.

Megaman Battle Network 4.5

come on.

RE: Classic Megaman thread - Ngamer01 - 05-08-2009

I love the classic series, but 9 was a big disappointment. Let's nerf Mega Man and Proto Man's abilities and make you pay for downloadable content that should have been free and already available from the start.

I'll take Mega Man 3 above all else because it keeps the great things 2 brought and throws more bosses at you than the other games have. You have the 8 MM 3 bosses, the Doc Robots that mimic the 8 MM 2 bosses, Proto Man (under the disguise of Break Man), the bosses of Dr. Wily's Fortress, and then Dr. Wily himself.

I do have to agree with this. 3 was far too awesome. Whereas MM games from 4 to 6 would have you fight TWO fortresses, neither of which were that long, 3 had you go and kill another 8 bosses, then you get your bloody fortress which had some pretty memorable stages.

And I vote 8 for "worst stages ever".

Oh, and... please tell me someone didn't say "Zero is the protagonist of the X series" ... PLEASE tell me someone did NOT say that... damn Zero...

he was planned to be the protagonist of the x series but he looked too different from megaman that it was expected to not be accepted too well by the fans.

RE: Classic Megaman thread - Skye McCloud - 05-08-2009

Oh, yea, that. Right... I still hate that fact (Though I will admit this is probably because I dislike how Zero seemed to steal the spotlight from X when X is now the protagonist)... but planned and is are different things. Tongue

RE: Classic Megaman thread - Cobalt Blue - 05-09-2009

Zero is cool. X is way too emotional.

plus zero uses a sword.

RE: Classic Megaman thread - Skye McCloud - 05-09-2009

X is too emotional? *coughZeroInX4cough*

But honestly, I'm sure my opinion of Zero would be different if Zero actually was X. My only issue with Zero now is that he's NOT the protagonist, yet he's been given a far more fleshed and robust story than X will ever see. It's like if in the Mario games, Luigi suddenly became the focus character. Right now, he's nothing more than a sidekick, as Zero started out as, but as early as X2 we saw elements of Zero's story taking over.

That's why I don't like Zero. If he was the protagonist, I wouldn't care, but he's not. Stop trying to steal the spotlight, Zero!

But I digress... ORIGINAL MEGAMAN!

RE: Classic Megaman thread - tsr moderation staff - 05-09-2009

Well, there's a lot more to flesh out in zero. The only real mystery with X was whether or not he was the original and capcom announced that he wasn't a couple years ago.

RE: Classic Megaman thread - Shawn - 05-09-2009

theres nothing wrong with zero. hes a damn fine character. hes an EQUAL TO X. not a sidekick, not a teacher, A FUCKING EQUAL.

axl however is a sack of shit.

also zeros died for x multiple times, and x gets super emotional every time.

RE: Classic Megaman thread - tsr moderation staff - 05-09-2009

True, when a main character has died nearly as many times as a recurring villain and MORE times than a recurring rival character, something's gone wrong.

Wow... you rate 8 better than 1 and 4? I have to cringe at that decision.

Wouldn't you get a bit emotional if your best friend died because he saved your ass from death?

And Zero wasn't even shown to be an equal until X4 (X1 he was some nobody, X2 he didn't have much of a role, X3 he was this dude that you could use at times), but it was in X2 that we were already being fed his story. ("Wait! Zero! I know your secret! You were destined to follow me!" "Maybe so, but I still don't like you.") It was because of the sheer popularity that he got very early on that he was even eventually made playable. Yes, he is an equal now. He wasn't in the beginning.

But I do agree about Axl. Most retarded character ever.
