RE: Which One? - Ultimecia - 05-12-2009 I'm going to say by my own experience: DS got lots of games, but I really gave up on DSi as soon I learned about not having a GBA game entrance, so I'm quite happy with my old system. You know the drill about the DS, so I'll save it. I really didn't wanted to pick up a PSP hearing all those anti-PSP stuff, but I decided to pick one now. The new models aren't compatible with firmware and stuff, so it was now or never, and I'm glad I got. I'm surprised it got many nice games, and you can actually get your PS1 games running smoothly on your PSP. No, we can't provide step-by-step instructions [and I highly reccomend not linking to any of the "warez" content], but we can mention the possibility of such modding to take place. It's like saying "Yeah you can mod a PS2 to play import games". However, I'd reccomend not linking to articles on how to do it [or if you're really iffy about it not mentioning WHAT softmods exist] There are communities on the internet dedicated to this kind of thing - we're not one of them. We're a pixelart/sprite ripping community :[ [Stepmania on the PSP is AMAZING though] Really, you can say the DS has the same possibilities though - however the PSP homebrew community is so much more developed so you'd find tons more cool crap for that system. Also, the DSi tries to be a little more like an organizer but fails horribly. As it does use a better medium [SD] the DSi is still going to feel like a toy. If you're finishing up highschool and don't have an iPod by now, I suggest the PSP purely because of its classiness plus movie/music playback that gets the job done. If you wanna watch Advent Children on the go like the weeaboo you are, download it to your memory stick and watch it. You goddamned weeaboo. PSP games are more expensive and it's tougher to find likeable games for the system - most of them are like the Wii in the sense that it's mostly remakes and ports of games. But yeah, the PSP is generally made for the older gamer [18+] with the purpose to be a portable media center, kinda like the PS3 doubling as a home media player. However if you have an iPod and you're more satisfied with solid gameplay spread amongst a few titles (and support pixel artists!) stick with the DSi. However if you're giving the DS Lite to your brother, be cool. Buy a PSP and when you see a promising title for the DS come out, something that you're interested in [Advance Wars, TWEWY - those "must play" titles] borrow it back for a week. Give him your right shoe as collateral. Once I get a job I'll buy a PSP lol RE: Which One? - 8-Bit Squirrel - 05-12-2009 I have the original DS, but my brother does get it. My other brother bought his own Lite (before the DSi was out, mind you). I do have an iPod. And actually I'm finishing my freshman year of high school this year. RE: Which One? - Cobalt Blue - 05-13-2009 If i had a PSP i'd stuff it with as many CPC games as posible. th sole idea of playing Gradius, Raiden, and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs anywhere makes me feel warm and fuzzy. RE: Which One? - Yawackhary - 05-13-2009 Hmmmm.... For the DSi, just wait and see but since you already have a DS there isn't much point unless a game that you really like is DSi-only (which at the moment won't be for a while, at least 6 months perhaps more). Now for the PSP, I actually did consider getting one and I'm considering right now as a matter of fact after trying my brother's one, plus I like my racing games which the DS doesn't have many of. Like many I did put it down for the PS2 ports and the UMD movies thing when it came out but now it rather like a modern day Game Gear (more powerful, limited game library, a bit of battery eater, a media related feature [TV Tuner - GG, ability to play movies and music - PSP]). As for the games well... there are collections (Metal Slug Anthology, Sega Mega Drive Collection, Capcom Classic Collection Remixed), fighting games (Street Fighter Alpha 3), football (soccer) games, GTA (Liberity City Stories, Vice City Stories) and a lot of racing games, if you are more into RPGs, puzzles and platformers then stick with the DS (not everyone likes RPGs and since I have all the games that I like on the DS and yes I have Mario Kart DS if only to find it). Plus you can mod a PSP to play allsorts and play PS1 games as well if you wish to do so. Just hope that makes sense to you... RE: Which One? - Raytheon - 05-13-2009 man, psp forever. when you can play n64, neo geo, cps2, snes, nes, gba, gbc and whatever else around that time as well as psp games, it owns. dude playing king of fighters wherever i go is so rad. RE: Which One? - Cobalt Blue - 05-13-2009 it makes you wonder that Sony actually makes it easy on purpose. as they did with the PSX and PS2. who cares about piracy, since indeed piracy makes you sell more consoles. KOF2k3 and Marvel VS Capcom on the go is enough to warrant purchasing the PSP now if only a dreamcast emulator existed for the PSP, life would be beautiful because that expands PSP's library to like every video game ever. RE: Which One? - 8-Bit Squirrel - 05-13-2009 Hey has Sony talked about when they're next handheld is coming out? RE: Which One? - 8-Bit Squirrel - 05-14-2009 Ooooo...I just saw the announcement about the Dissidia bundle. It's got a silver psp, 2gb memory stick, FFVII Advent Children, and Dissidia. Yeah Dazz, I know you said it's not as thrilling as expected, but I'd like to decide for myself. PSP is currently winning. Though I'm hoping Japan will be nice enough to give us the DSi KH 358/2 Days bundle. Though I need to see when the Dissidia bundle comes out... RE: Which One? - Koopaul - 05-16-2009 DSi has an internet ap. I'm using it right now. Kinda lame it can't do Youtube like the Wii. Either way, there has been talk of DSi exclusive titles. They might use the camera feature like the Eyetoy. But I wouldn't use mods as an argument. Not everyone does that. I certainly don't. RE: Which One? - 8-Bit Squirrel - 05-16-2009 I probably would |
