RE: hey sonic team - Rökkan - 07-03-2009 ugh jesus christ you guys, I was just talking about Sonic's attitude and how he should look like, not what the game needs to take to be a good one. in Sonic Adventure and Sonic OVA, he had a personality that did match with him: cool, a bit selfish, provocative, and most of all, he didn't smile all the time or shouted YEAH WOOHOO all the time. fuck you guys I'm not re-quoting what I said about this on Sonic's birthday topic, if you want my (right) (sonicnerd) opinion about this just search there, goddamnit guys. this topic seriously makes me rage because new Sonic games are so wrong that we have to undergo this shitstorm of opinions and subject changes, i didn't even knew what we were discussing back there Quote:what they really need to do is to look back at the games that made them successful in the first place, and apply it to newgen games.^^^^ there, exactly what I said in the other topic. discussion is over, if you disagree with this, you're a distinguished gentleman RE: hey sonic team - FRET - 07-03-2009 Sonic Team should just make more Phantasy Star RE: hey sonic team - The KKM - 07-03-2009 (07-03-2009, 09:21 PM)Fret Wrote: Sonic Team should just make more Phantasy Star This. Honestly, what did make the old games good? gameplay? It only works in 2D. If someone makes a 2D game for next-gen consoles, no-one will buy it unless it's for Wii. So the only way they can apply what made the old games good to the new games is on 2D games which normally only happen in the handhelds. Oh wait, Sonic Rush. Yeah, they should focus on non-Sonic games for a while now. Just... give him a rest, willya? They've got Ristar, Vectorman, and a shitload of other games they've made over the years. Its not like they can't make good games which you can easily find out by going to your local arcade, but there's been stuff like Billy Hatcher for consoles which wasn't bad either. The Sonic series has a lot of DBZ references. The chaos emeralds and super forms are the more noticeable ones. RE: hey sonic team - MaverickETC - 07-04-2009 Nothing is wrong with Sonic. Something is wrong with Sonic Team. From what I've heard, the original Sonic Team members aren't there anymore and the staff is constantly shifting and the like, coincidentally after Sonic Heroes....go figure If, at the very least, most of the original Sonic Team come back (get ur azzez bac dere >=| ) or they hire some people that have some great ideas (not saying that some of the previous ideas were bad. Sonic Riders was cool and Werehog's legit. It's just his gameplay...) with an actual interest in hardcore Sonic fans (unlike Nintendo at the moment) and keep them there, then we won't have to surf the web reading as much whining...lol RE: hey sonic team - Shadowth117 - 07-04-2009 Honestly I think at the moment Nintendo would do a better job with Sonic. They always take the time to make a game worthwhile rather spewing out crap every year like Sega. Not that Sega doesn't have some good games that it takes its time on, but Sonic isn't one of them. Yes, the Sonic Team of nowadays has very few of the original members, who all went away. But at least SEGA had a good idea with the current team- hiring young ones fresh out of college and that are fans of Sonic themselves. I'll take being a distinguished gentleman than, being pompous. Do you know why they keep not going back to the way things were on big platforms? They know they have the old 90's kids money. No one is retarded enough not to know Sonic 1- 3&K weren't outstandingly great games. Sonic is edgy right? Sonic is the cutting edge room floor of cool? Sonic is attitude? These are all correct Rokkan what I disagree with, is the nay-sayers who complain. As if SEGA isn't trying to get back the edge Sonic once had. Do you see Crash Bandicoot still being as cool and on top as he once was? No Ratchet is now the epitome of what is cool and attitude. Sonic can't keep selling games unless people like us the backboard of what gaming use to be can't earn them the money they're looking for. Your all being too snubby, and stuck in the old way as if your opinions mattered anymore. Sonic doesn't belong to us, the only Sonic that still does the job that your all talking about is the Archie Adventure series comics Sonic. You know what this topic would be better spent on? One of you at Pixel Core helping Deebs make Sonic The Hedgehog 4 with her and the MFZ spriters modern gen. Sonic sprites. All of you are now adults, or getting there. You know how to sprite, and know what you want. So you should do yourselves a favor and maybe THEN SEGA and Sonic Team might take all the flak they get by making the game 'everyone is asking for' seriously. And if you really think that SA1 and 2 belong to the old-school era, then the new games are even shittier than what I thought! RE: hey sonic team - Cobalt Blue - 07-04-2009 Mario is classic, somehow Refined and mature. Sonic is New, somehow Raw and Youthful. while i bet you're not going to see Mario using swords or Luigi Turning into a Emo biker in the next 10 years, Sonic will need and will have to change every time the definition of "cool" changes as fast as a new sonic game is made. I certainly didnt saw Sonic as that young always cheerful in his 1~3 incarnations because lets face, there was little to none sign of an attitude or personality besides being a hero stereotype-ish serious guy runing to save the world(of course, if we just focus only in the games). i'd dare to say the sonic of the genesis era was way more matture and lacked the shitty "yo bro im so cool yeah" stuff that is certainly a piece of shit and makes the character look and sound like the guy that acts though to fit in the group. the rest of the cast has been acting the same role since day one. certainly we do need more than jumping all the way to the right, as the power of the current gen system not only allows but rather demands that their potential is taken to the max limits that a simple sidescrolling cant do for shit. it needs a ""elaborated"" plot, i needs cutscenes, it needs all that crap because in the end is all about selling a character that could be marketable. and as if its now, sega is certainly trying to mlik sonic as much as he can before he justs anoys everyone to a point no one but diehardfantards would buy sonic games. I really have no clue on what gameplay elements or what attitude should sonic have nowdays. certainly he's not made for the "default reckless badassery" role (Ala Dante, for example) nor for a childish runaway. not like turning sonic with internal conflicts and ethics worked. I would love to see Sonic in a more mature, less shonen(lets face it: it ends being so positive and cheerful he starts to sound retarded), credible existence. balance for fucks sake. RE: hey sonic team - Rökkan - 07-04-2009 yeah Metaru, exactly what Sonic OVA, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 had for the time being (even though Sonic started to look "shounen-ish" on the second one) this is why they're pratically the only games of the new generation that are good. (pratically, Sonic Rush/Rush Adventure, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic Unleashed are good too) Also, Sonic and the Secret Rings had great written plot, dialogues and characterization. Sonic was still the all-smiles guy he was since Sonic Adventure 2, but he seemed like a real person, sometimes selfish, sometimes reckless, sometimes caring for others, there were cutscenes that he was truly afraid too. Some people said the cutscenes were long and boring, but seriously, fuck them in the ass. This is exactly how cutscenes in Sonic games should be played out. While Sonic Heroes in the other hand, "BECAUSE WE ARE SONIC HEROES" kind of speaks for me. Corny, stupid lines and sometimes even incredibly redundant. About new characters, sometimes, they are just necessary, I understand that. They can even add in new characters, but never, ever, add to the plot characters that substitutes other ones, irritating, or just stupid. Example? Chip. Enormous plot device, but he substitutes what Tails is for. Tails is Sonic's right hand, always there, following and aiding him throughout his adventure. But lately, since Sonic Team is a bunch of cunts, they decided to make Tails the shop keeper/laboratory guy. And what makes me rage is that they tryied to force this sentimentalism between Sonic and Chip down our throats, and Tails acts like he was this very distant friend or something. But, there are also new characters that are, amazing as this might sound, good. Gamma for instance, oh god I love Gamma. Too bad that bringing him back again can flush his awesome down the toilet. Sonic Battle didn't ruin Gamma because Sonic Battle had also well written dialogues, characterization, and storyline pace. Shaahra and Erazor Djinn are other good examples, they were characters truly necessary for Secret Rings' plot. They didn't feel like they were substituting characters or trying too hard to stand out just because they are new (like all bad new characters on Sonic games does!) Now I'm being overboard again. RE: hey sonic team - Flare - 07-04-2009 Completely agree although I still like Chip and though he did take away Tails' best friend role as for him being a sidekick replacement, we have to remember that characters have developed. Tails used to follow him endlessly yet in SA/SA2 they had him have monologues where he shows us that he has grown up and he needs to start doing things for his own, basically removing himself away from Sonic's side kick and into more of a best friend. Yet after this everything completely blows up... Sonic Heroes. Tails and Knuckles were ruined in that game, Tails turned about 3 and became Sonic's sidekick again, Knuckles too, considering Knuckles portrayal in SA was a loner who only got involved when needed to have him happily running loops with Sonic to stop Eggman made no sense. This is what I hate about the game, the teams didn't work because they went against things from previous games, and even though they were teams supposedly sharing the mission equally everything was based more towards Sonic, which yes its his game but don't make them out to be a team when the cutscenes focus more on Sonic. RE: hey sonic team - Koopaul - 07-04-2009 One thing I was fond about Sonic Unleashed doing was making the humans cartoony and not anime/realistic. |
