It's pretty handy if you want to self-illuminate your models for PIXEL ART TEXTURES OH YEAH.
You can use it as a template.

Also, I have figured out how to make that easier by using square textures. I just have to perfect it. Hooray.

Hey you cool dudes I just found out another use for render baking. Illustrated in these steps (no illustrations, HAH):

1. Make a low-poly model
2. Subdivide or subsurf to turn it into high-poly
3. Render Bake
4. Apply texture to low-poly
5. Your low-poly model now looks high poly!

In Blender, using Subsurfing to multiply the poly-count three times and then baking a full render makes a 300-something tris model look AWESOME.

Repasta from PXC

Now for newer things.

New project. Realistic Skullboy.

Looks good so far. Best of luck with this.

Btw, the 3dsmax thing didn't work out. Taking forever to torrent. Thanks, anyway, dude.

Aw really? That sucks. Its supposed to take time, but if it took way too long I'm not surprised you didn't keep going for it. Well, good luck with whatever you're using now.

Well, generally, torrents do take long, but this seemed forever stuck in 3%. I've been attempting to d/l ever since you sent it to me. Big Grin

Lengthened the arms, widened body. (no image, yes)

Getting there. Also rigged the Shoulders. Per vertex weighting in Blender is tedious, but accurate.

On to the hands? Later, haha.

Made this with Anim8or when TSR was down. Ultra WIP.
May never finish.

Looks cool.

and

thanks to you I've been inspired to return to 3D modeling

That's great. We could be a sub-community. Big Grin

Also, I'm improving my unwrapping and texturing before venturing into teturing with pixel art.

I'm confused. What do you mean by texturing with pixel art? Do you mean like applying it as a texture to a model and making it look more 3d from there by modifying that model?

RE: Like pixel art, but less straightforward [3D dump] - LeleleleMAXIMUM - 10-19-2009

Unwrapping the model, and then using pixel art to texture.
You can't do it with overly complex models, but it should be fun.

Also, if you need help making a drill in Anim8or, just ask. The first time I tried, it was a bitch to make.
