And I could see Hang Castle, because it's halloween themed and dark. It's another type of level with little competition from other Sonic games. I think the only other level that is even remotely similar is that mine level from Sonic 2(Mystic Mine I think?). I didn't even consider stages from Secret Rings or Black Knight. I always thought SEGA viewed those as spin-offs, and that the only levels that would be added would be from the "main" series. I agree Speed Highway is the best stage in SA1, but that doesn't make it a good rep for SA1 in Generations. RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Omegajak - 06-14-2011 (06-13-2011, 05:38 PM)ZaeTelapo! Final Rush/Final Chase/Crazy Gadget would be awesome too. RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Cobalt Blue - 06-14-2011 (06-14-2011, 01:09 AM)ZaeTelapo! Really I wouldn't mind if there wasn't one, but that's a bit unfair. Really I don't like water levels in the sonic series that much, they always get on my nerves. I just said "really" twice. Oh boy. Quote:unless i am mistaken, half if not all the stages in sonic adventure do have a section of pure straighfoward speed, either manual or scripted(these parts where you have no control over sonic). of all of these sections only speed highway is the only one who does create a sense of speed. "they have a section" keyword being section here, some levels were fair sized though and don't really NEED the fastest possible, some levels didn't even incorporate speed(such as the casino level), so that's what I'm getting it, but yes I get your point now. Although I loved Sonic Adventure, even though the game is done pretty badly(lots of bugs and terrible cut scenes, voice acting, etc.) although loved hub world and most of the stages and ost was good, so not entirely sure on "bad". RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Azure-Tranquility - 06-15-2011 He does have a point. Aside from Speed Highway and maybe Twinkle Park, the other Sonic levels were already pretty much done in the past. Hence the competition. But we have to consider what came AFTER Sonic Adventure as well. Until SA2 came out, Speed Highway was unique, but it became less unique after the likes of City Escape and Radical Highway came around. ...lol Radical/Speed Highway RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Rökkan - 06-15-2011 (06-15-2011, 03:45 PM)Liquid Cake Wrote: He does have a point. Hence the competition. um Starlight Zone and Stardust Speedway did it before Speed Highway, just fyi. Twinkle Park was more or less done by Carnival Night and Speed Slider, but they're all completely different levels - the thematic is similar but explored in completely different ways. Plus, if SEGA is really worried about representing different thematics, we wouldn't have two city stages, and probably a third, yeah? It's more about popularity and being recognizable, representing different reoccouring thematics comes shortly after that. - - - - - - - - - - Also, a little thing you guys might have not noticed yet: You do know that Sonic Generations' Motobug, Chopper and Buzz Bomber are the same than Sonic Colors' right? Sonic Colors was in development in parallel with Sonic Generations (maybe a bit before or a bit after), that means that those badniks were actually originally made for Generations, but re-used in Colors, which to me is the most logical explanation to why they used those old badniks instead of jamming in some unoriginal Egg Pawn-ish robots. So, what are the other classic badniks present in Sonic Colors? I was going to list them, but I found an even better image. These not only have the badniks present in Sonic Colors, but also others made for a toy set in celebration of Sonic's 20 years that might appear on Generations (the GUN robot, and the Grabber from Chemical Plant Zone) Aside from the GHZ badniks and those I just noted, you have the Spiny from Chemical Plant Zone, Jawz from Hydrocity Zone, and what could be both a Catakiller (Sonic 1, Marble and Scrap Brain and Sonic 3D Blast, Green Grove) and a Sandworm (Sandopolis Zone). Thus confirming Hydrocity and Chemical Plant even further - not so keen on Sandopolis (though it'd be rad), there were lots of similar caterpillar enemies on the Sonic series, plus, the way he attacks on Colors isn't anywhere similar as the Catakiller or the Sandworm, but it is probable that maybe the Sonic & Knuckles zone might be actually it! RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Helmo - 06-15-2011 as long as that monkey that gets me everytime with the coconuts isn't there RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Cobalt Blue - 06-15-2011 or the crab. RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Kriven - 06-16-2011 But Coconuts and Crabmeat are badnik staples RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Azure-Tranquility - 06-16-2011 Hard to believe SA2 is 10 years old... RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Kriven - 06-16-2011 Hello relevancy, it's cool if I ignore you, right? Relevancy (NOPE DEFINITELY NOT KOSHEH) Wrote:no dude, by all means do what you gotta do. RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Rökkan - 06-23-2011 Demo's out on XBLA (Gold Membership only so far) and PSN. Apparently the demo only includes Classic Sonic (gay, they said both Sonics would be in). Most people on Retro had the same complaints, which were how scripted a lot of the things are (every spring has a scripted height, jumping off platforms have a set height (???), and sonic will automatically decrease speed when he gets to certain parts), how stiff Sonic handles, how useless rolling is, and how incredibly overpowered the Spin-Dash is. The Spin-Dash and the rolling are more ridiculous than how Sonic 4 handled them, come on! Anyways, Dusk Golem from Sonic Retro says: Quote:Guys, prepared to be mindfucked. People looking through the Demo assets have confirmed that the Modern Sonic stage is in the demo, just locked off. And that's not all. ALL of the City Escape assets, yes even the whole stages, are in the demo, just not accessible.Obviously Knuckles WILL NOT be playable, Sega's said over and over BEFORE E3 that the home console versions will only be 1-Player, and only Sonic with himself; but many other characters will appear for plot. RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Kriven - 06-23-2011 Obviously nothing. Sega has proven time and again that they're ratass liars when it comes to not including characters. |
