RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Sketchasaurus - 02-10-2011 I cleaned up the linework and shaded it Sugi-style. In regards to giving it more reptilian looking skin, I added little "creases" in different areas to somewhat hint at it having scales and maintain both the design and style. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Hoeloe - 02-11-2011 That looks really good, but something is slightly off. The head, tail and "collar thing" give the impression of a final evolution, but the rest feels more like a middle evolution. I think it doesn't look powerful enough in it's body. If you look at the other final starter evolutions, they usually have large muscles or knobbly joints. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Koopaul - 02-11-2011 WOW! I was away for a while and I am seeing amazing things. It warms my heart seeing people working together like this... *sniff* I'm so in love with your designs Sketchasaur. I must say though now that I see the final evolution with pinkish petals around the neck it sort of gives me a Meganium vibe. I don't know maybe its just me. Either way I got to update the first post! RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Sketchasaurus - 02-11-2011 (02-11-2011, 02:45 AM)Hoeloe Wrote: That looks really good, but something is slightly off. If you look at the other final starter evolutions, they usually have large muscles or knobbly joints. It's somewhat based mostly off of Red/Blue and Gold/silver design styles. even then, Frilled lizards aren't quite powerful and rely mostly on their frills to bluff about their strength and are likely to flee; in that respect, this Pokémon would have higher base speed than the other starters. @Koopaul: Thank you very much, I was thinking the same about the petals although the inspiration is mainly from Venusaur. XD EDIT: I'm working on the Middle Evo's final art, I'll have it up soon. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Koopaul - 02-11-2011 Yes I agree frilled lizards are speedsters and not very powerful. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Sketchasaurus - 02-11-2011 RE: TSR PokeDex Project - FlyingMonkey - 02-11-2011 How is this as far as proportions go? I want to get an idea of how large each sprite should be? RE: TSR PokeDex Project - mutantyoshi - 02-11-2011 It looks good, but my best guess would be putting the sprites next to other grass starter evos to get a sense of what it might look like. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Hoeloe - 02-11-2011 Those proportions seem a little bit off with respect to the middle evo. If you look, the middle one is leaning forwards more than the final one, meaning that, once you stand it up, they are roughly the same height with those proportions. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - FlyingMonkey - 02-11-2011 Okay then, I see what you mean. Here is an updated proportion chart. (Evo 2 is standing straight up.) Also, anyone come up with names for these three? RE: TSR PokeDex Project - The_Snare - 02-11-2011 First: Nettile (Nettle + Reptile) Second: Drawing blanks words I wanted to work with: Fern, Frill and Mydo from (Chlamydosaurus) Third: Rafleziard/Raflesiard (Pronounced: Ra-flee-zee-erd) I really wish I could get my creative juices flowing to make some pokemon, you guys seriously rock. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Sketchasaurus - 02-11-2011 Sproutile (Sprout + Reptile) Colleaf (Collar+leaf) for 2nd Frillsar/Frillsaur for the third evo. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - The_Snare - 02-11-2011 Oye, so I made a clownfish pokemon to go with the Sea Anemone pokemon. Yay or Nay? RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Hoeloe - 02-11-2011 Sproutile is good. Dilophorest is something I came up with for the last evolution (Combination of Dilophosaurus and Forest, Dilophosaurus being a frill-necked dinosaur). RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Sketchasaurus - 02-11-2011 Dilophosaurus didn't actually have a neck frill; many people think that it did because of the Jurassic Park movie. |
