Honestly, I want Roy back just see if they go with his primary look or the double-sword incarnation from the new FE game.
Edit: Unless that's really only one sword and I'm totally blind.

I've always thought the Black Knight would be really cool, possibly with a alternate costume.

SpoilerActually, I have a pretty long list of FE characters I've thought would be neat for various reasons, usually because they'd introduce new styles of play. Lyndis, because we don't have katana user, Micaiah would be a Zelda-like mage whose Thani attack could be more powerful on heavier characters (canonically it's more effective against armored units), Sothe for the knives and the rogue-style combat. Hector would be my preferred axe user, but his abilities are too similar to Ike's for him to be up on the list.
But out of them all, Ephraim with lances would probably be the coolest. I mean, he's not really among the League of Famous Lords, but I just have this image of him running around with that lance, and it's stuck ever since.
Maybe somebody who rides a horse... not sure how well that would work out... I'd definitely like the Pegasi Sisters (Fiora, Florina, and Farina) as an Assist Trophy (which I think they were planned to be for Brawl?)
Another idea I've had was Micaiah and Sothe as a tag-team, using "Rescue" to swap places.

While playing ssbb, one of the things I definitely felt was missing was another clone.
Of the list that kriven just mentioned, I personally think I'd prefer Miccy for her different playstyle (of the other FE girls, Lyn probably wouldn't play too differently from the other swordies, other than possibly being lighter/faster, and Lucina is almost literally a Marth clone). Unfortunately, it's hard to see her winning out over Ike (who is almost certainly unlikely to win out over Chrom lol).
Miccy x Sothe as a tag-team would probably end up being Zelda/Sheik clone, essentially.
I think as far as FE villains go (I haven't played 13 yet so I don't know about their villains), Zephiel probably has the coolest giant sword. Too bad he's from the same game as Roy.
@Kriven / double sword: In the FE13 Roy art, he's got the Sword of Seals/Binding Blade/ whatever nintendo is calling it and the thing that looks like another sword is that massive sheath he pulls the sword out of in his FE6 battle animation.

That's what I thought when I went to look again. I noticed what looked like stitching patterns or something, either way unswordly.
I think they probably should have colored it differently x.x;

Anyway, I actually wouldn't mind seeing Roy or Chrom be in the game. To be honest I'm pretty sure Chrom is going to be the new Fire Emblem character in the Smash series, and if he is so be it. Let's just cut out Marth/Ike as well then because we don't need that many FE characters in Smash.

With the sudden surge in popularity here in the west thanks to FE13 (and the series' already strong reputation in the east), I think FE might actually be able to deserve 3 slots now. That is, assuming that the final roster size would allow it. Just 2 is still pretty much good enough (if it were me, I'd say only 1 character per franchise except 2 for Zelda & Pokemon and 3 for Mario (because Luigi is necessary), opening up more space for other "lesser" franchises ).

I love FE don't get me wrong, but I'd like more variation out of the roster if they decide to include more FE characters. We don't need that many sword wielders tbh.

Just to be fair Roy was only in Melee for the sake of advertising.
If it weren't for that he wouldn't have been in SSBM at all.

Well as you guys know I try to rate Nintendo series to determine how many characters should be in the game. I know you guys don't like that but I do.
However I know that a series can fluctuate. What could be a 2 character series today maybe a 3 character series tomorrow. That's kind of how I see Fire Emblem now. It's significance went up, therefor it could get three reps.
Of course this is how I feel.
