RE: Nes Smash Sprites - nicktheslayer - 05-07-2010 Okay, for now, im going to just go back and change the colors, since some arent even real NES colors. A different question for now, though, would it be okay if i made my own pallete for the game, and make all the greens the same green, (for characters, Luigi and link would have the same green), and stuff like that? That way they are more in style, and no one character would accidentally blend in with the background, since itd be easier to avoid it in the first place? RE: Nes Smash Sprites - triptych - 05-07-2010 unless you're running it on the NES(you're not) there's no reason to stick to the NES palette RE: Nes Smash Sprites - nicktheslayer - 05-07-2010 (05-07-2010, 06:41 PM)sweet georgia brown Wrote: unless you're running it on the NES(you're not) there's no reason to stick to the NES palette I know, but im trying to make this game feel as NES as possible. You know what i mean? I dont want limits as in how many levels there can be, how many sprites it can hold in total, etc. But i want 8-bit music, an NES palette, the NES buttons, (A, B, Start, Select, and the d pad, as Z, X, Enter, Shift, and the arrow keys respectivly), and other things like this. I want it to feel as much like a NES game as possible, but bigger in the sense that it holds more than a normal game would. RE: Nes Smash Sprites - triptych - 05-07-2010 oh well then stick to the nes palette i guess????? idk RE: Nes Smash Sprites - nicktheslayer - 05-07-2010 Okay. Ill edit the smash ball now, and try to make the color changes more consistent RE: Nes Smash Sprites - Cobalt Blue - 05-07-2010 the smash ball is a circle with two black lines over it and a rotation of colors. move to something actually challenging, like, the sprites. if it helps you somehow, stick to make them in a 16x16pixels area, and use less than 4 colors on each. that should help to make them look more NES-ish. RE: Nes Smash Sprites - nicktheslayer - 05-07-2010 Isnt that what im doing, or am i mistaken? RE: Nes Smash Sprites - Mabelma - 05-07-2010 I think he means making the custom, not edits. I liked the smash ball and the idea seems nice but I think all sprites should be custom instead of just edits. RE: Nes Smash Sprites - nicktheslayer - 05-07-2010 You mean even the character sprites? RE: Nes Smash Sprites - Mabelma - 05-07-2010 Yup. That's what I mean. RE: Nes Smash Sprites - nicktheslayer - 05-10-2010 Thats not what i want though. Im going for an NES smash, but ill try this later. RE: Nes Smash Sprites - Mabelma - 05-10-2010 You can still have a NES smash with customs. You just need to make the customs NES styled. RE: Nes Smash Sprites - nicktheslayer - 05-11-2010 Anyways, the smash ball wasnt an edit, its was 100% custom. Heres the update with NES colors, in an attachment: RE: Nes Smash Sprites - Maneko - 05-11-2010 Perhaps you should stop using the attachment system and start uploading your stuff somewhere else.
