RE: Features You'd Like to See More in Games - GrooveMan.exe - 06-01-2010 Oh for fuck's sake. How can you manage to interpret "Write a decent paragraph about something you like" turn to "SHITPOST AND GOD DAMN I HATE TODAY'S GAMES" However, there's definitely material here I can use. Thank you to all the people who actually co-operated. =) RE: Features You'd Like to See More in Games - Neslug - 06-01-2010 Creative platforming One of the reasons I loved Super Mario Galaxy so much was all the different ways the whole gravity and planet concept was used throughout the game. Unlockables Be it a fighting, adventure or racing game, nothing beats unlockables that make you want to work towards them. This includes the bonus character, cheat mode, harder difficulty setting and the jukebox. 2D graphics Even through 3D is the new-D it shouldn't make good ol' sprite graphics obsolete. Player involvement I'm not particularly fond of overly cinematic games that are essentially longer movies with some tap X to not die thrown in. Cutscenes are nice, as long as the game doesn't play itself. RE: Features You'd Like to See More in Games - Locked Achievement - 06-01-2010 Games that make you think I love in game puzzles, personally, but only things like Mario Galaxy, where the puzzles are infused into levels. However I dont like games that are just puzzles. Proffesor Layton isnt my thing Customisable Levels Games with pre-set levels included are great. Especially 2D games, like Megaman Powered Up, because I think that gives you freedom, and it dosen't take too much effort. Also, uploading them to the internet to see what games other people have made Customisable Characters Im talking games like Monster Hunter, where there are numerous choices of armour, weapons etc. that you are given a choice of what to use. Bosses Bosses where you have to work your butt off just to survive a minute or two, but can still be beaten after several tries Music that sends all the blood to your head I hate it when you are extremely pumped up for an important section of the game, a section that the game is pretty much all about, and you get music that someone made using one or two instruments, that dosen't even fit the theme of the game, and played by some Kid whos not even got his Grade 1 in that instrument. Music like that from Final Fantasy is the best Re-play value You know those games that make you feel great after you finish everything in the whole game? I hate that. Extended Storylines (like the end of Sonic Heroes, with Metal Overlord), levels that still feel fun after being played fifty-times, unlockable things, and not anything that says to you 'Get an A-Grade in all levels' or whatever. So, yeah. Basically im hard to please RE: Features You'd Like to See More in Games - tsr moderation staff - 06-01-2010 badass protagonists i dont necessarily mean like marcus fenix or whatever super gruff GRAADhgahJGDAG dude, but nothing bothers me like a weak, idiotic, witless protagonist without any personality or edge (looking at you kingdom hearts) boss fights epic boss fights with huge monsters are the best of times RE: Features You'd Like to See More in Games - superfly johnson - 06-01-2010 Well, I love it when games let you live a life so to speak, like fable.. Like every decision you make affects the gameplay. As well as customizing the way your character looks (from armor and swords to hair body type skin color etc) like Monster Hunter. A long the lines of what sexhaver said, something that has a realistic ENOUGH landscape. For instance, infamous. Speaking of Infamous's gameplay, the ability to destroy anything in your power to destroy. If at my level I can destroy it, I want to. Including civilians.. as bloody explosive realistic and destructive as possible. (same goes for Prototype.) I also enjoy gameplay so epic it could be a cutscene, like heavenly sword. RE: Features You'd Like to See More in Games - JarJar - 06-01-2010 (06-01-2010, 08:21 AM)[fish in space] Wrote: badass protagonists you best learn that the upcoming kh game throws its protagonist lineage out the window. as for me: More Color A lot of games these days have some dark greyish feel to them, not saying its a bad thing, but "too" many games have them, mostly western games. They need more games with colorful rich environments and characters that "pop out" instead of some dull somewhat-realistic graphics that look boring. More Single Player Games Now I know online/multiplayer is a big thing now, but I wouldn't mind for more games to have a single player challenge, just so that players today can still appreciate games that arent multiplayer, or at least keep games with multiplayer "With" a single player have more focus on single. Cuz sadly people today are buying some games just for multiplayer and missing out on single player modes like Red Dead Redemption. It's been around for so long. The lack of saved films bothers me in every multiplayer game that doesn't have it, meaning most FPSs. It's a great luxury to have. In RPGs - More In-Depth Equipment Systems Call me old fashioned, but I miss having a crapload of equipment to choose from. This is terrible in JRPGs recently, seeing as how every game seems to only have a weapon slot and an accessory slot. What happened to armor and shields and stuff? Customizable Weapons Especially in JRPGs. Some type of item customization/creation system should be in more games. It adds a lot of depth to RPGs especially. But for some reason you're not getting crucified over it. Now before you say "KOOPAUL STOP POSTING STOP POSTING STOP POSTING!" I have something to add to the topic. You know how Cloud Gaming is most likely the future of gaming? Well then I expect to see more Expansions. Not just for your typical Sims or WoW games but for like everything. It makes sense that cloud games will be easily expandable but in a much bigger way than before.
