RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Yoder - 07-20-2008 Since when have realistic physics in theory ever been important to a Sonic game? I didn't mean to say that it can't be good in my last post. It may be a good game. The problem comes with how consumers will react to something that sounds so gimmicky. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Rakia - 07-20-2008 I agree with basically everything that was responded to in that link (not in the quotes) RE: Sonic and the Black knight - GaryCXJk - 07-20-2008 Actually, in my opinion, bitching about people who bitch about the people bitching is hypocrite. They can express their opinions also. They can say "but you haven't played the game yet". Like you have an opinion, so do they. I for one still see great potential in this game. I want the Sonic franchise to actually evolve. I can understand people getting tired of the negativeness around Sonic. Like you have your over-reacting opinions, so do they. So don't bitch about them, if you are over-reacting yourself. That said, I really do think this game as great potential. Think about it. Everybody loves at least some sort of animation with quick action, right? I mean, who doesn't love Bleach or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children? You know why they appeal to us? Fast sword action. So we've got Sonic, the quickest hedgehog alive, and a sword, the most bad-ass weapon ever. What do you get when you combine both? It doesn't have to be a clunky-ass game with clunky sword fighting. Sure, Sega might screw up on this department and will make it clunky, but what if they don't? What if the gameplay actually is quick, at least quick enough to appease the Gods, but slow enough so that we don't get our asses served? Really, you might think the concept is bad, but really, it perfectly makes sense, especially if we look at what we really like. Fast. Sword. Action. Yeah baby, penetrate that stuff... RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Gaia - 07-20-2008 I spend litterally an hour playing LEGO star wars.. and come back to find this. well, at least it could be sonic's redemption, everyone LOVES swordplay, taken from a certain member here. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - GaryCXJk - 07-20-2008 Everybody loves swords! Who doesn't? I bet you even play with your sword everyday. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Flare - 07-20-2008 I just don't see it work. I am not saying Sega won't pull it off but why are they experimenting with Sonic? What does he have to do with it? Sonic to me should be less holding stuff and more attacking. Sonic's spinning is an amazing ability, I don't see characters like Mario or Zelda being able to do anything to do damage which Sonic can do on his own. The feeling of having Sonic break walls down, bouncing all over the place, destroying anything in his rolling path. And yet Sega feels that this is not enough, because in the new games we have not seen this, for the love of God the new games gave you damage if you jump without homing! Sega with Unleashed have got back stuff I liked about Sonic, not just old but new as-well, including a crouch button. And this just seems ridiculous. SATSR worked but it wasn't because of its setting. We have seen characters with weapons before, Shadow, and no one liked it. Even the sword game-play was crap because it didn't do the same damage that they could do with their spin. I like werehog, despite some fans moaning, as its still Sonic, they haven't given him anything extra, he isn't going round with a motorbike or anything else its just Sonic who uses his fists. We won't know what its like till we get it, but if its a game that could easily have a different character in Sonic's place it is not a Sonic game. Its sega trying to make money by using Sonic's image. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - LilGrim1991 - 07-20-2008 If I may improve on my last post: RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Cshad - 07-20-2008 Has anyone considered the gauntlet may be the reason sonic is able to hold the sword? Also werewolf=/=link, because the concept, hasn't been around, for idk, centuries? I'm actually looking forward to this . And I hope Sega doesn't screw up. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Yoder - 07-20-2008 Cshad Wrote:Has anyone considered the gauntlet may be the reason sonic is able to hold the sword? This is a really great point. Maybe he can't let go of the sword. So, Sonic is forced to change up his move-set to accomodate(sp?) the blade. ~~~~~~~~ As much as everybody wants Sonic to stay true to speedy platforming, other franchises take new directions successfully. Mario has delved into sports, party, and fighting games. Metroid became a first-person shooter. Link, among franchises that have lasted in popularity long enough, is probably the only major franchise that hasn't seen any significant alterations. What happened to Micaiah though? Did she just throw Sothe in prison thanks to another blood pact or something? Also, branded can't shapeshift. Your plot is very inconsistent. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - DioShiba - 07-21-2008 I don't mind playind a game with sonic holding a sword, but I don't see why SEGA can't go back to it's old roots. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Afr0Blu3 - 07-21-2008 Great, another part of the Storybook Series. I didn;t like Secret Rings, didn't get on with the controls at all, so I'll most likely hate this. Still I'll give it a shot, deserves a chance to redeem itself, seeing as I'm condemning it pre-release RE: Sonic and the Black knight - Yawackhary - 07-21-2008 I think a revivial of the Wonder Boy series who have been better for this swordplay than Sonic but instead of getting Westone, they are making money off the hedgehog and milking him dry. What's next Sonic flying about in outer space? Being in a Jack and the Beanstalk spoof where he has to climb and run away from a giant? Actually I need to stop right there before Sega gets anymore ideas. Who knows what this game will be like, for what we know it might be running down the levels and then use the remote during the boss battles or on rails and use the remote to attack. I smell a spin off anyway if Unleashed is the big game. Doesn't matter anyway since the last 3D Sonic I got was Heroes (2D is a slightly different story) and that was a glitchfest even though it had a classic Sonic feeling. Plus that I don't have a Wii to play it on neither. Quick note: Something that I forgot, in the Sonic comic Tails wore a suit of armour and held a sword while Knuckles was his sidekick. Don't think that this is related though. RE: Sonic and the Black knight - A.J. Nitro - 07-21-2008 So this is like the third Sonic game similar to Zelda games: - Secret Rings: basically the setting. - Sonic Unleashed: Wolf Sonic instead of Wolf Link. - This: He has a sword. |
