It would bring everything back to normal after round 2, and I really don't feel like OSM deserves to be disqualified or lose by default for something like that
OSM will be moved onto round 2 regardless of whether or not his computer is fixed. To avoid continuously moving him forward though, If he can't complete his entry (or isnt able to start his entry) for round 2 before the deadline, he'll lose the match

I can see the point in spyware because it helps to advertise, and even keyloggers and stuff like that.
But a virus stops your OS from booting? That's just out there to annoy people.
Have you tried putting in your OS disk and booting up from there? You may not recover your work but it might fix your pc.

only problem is, if he can't get into safe mode, we have a problem
that's why i wanted to know /exactly/ what was happening so i could look up the symptoms to find out how to fix it

I fixed my laptop, I am so fucking happy.
BUT. I lost my entry, had to wipe out my harddrive and start over. I lost everything, actually.
I'm still in the game though, no worries.
