RE: Dark Souls - Marth - 04-09-2012

Ok some one answer me this. Am I just really under leveled or is the butterfly boss supposed to be nearly impossible?

RE: Dark Souls - PrettyNier - 04-09-2012

What level are you and what equipment are you using?

The butterfly was the easiest thing in the game for me. Just stand back and wait until it shoots at you then dodge roll away form the projectiles. Keep doing this until it lands on the bridge and just run up and hit ti and repeat. Literally all there is to it,

You mean these ones?
(insert unused enemies/bosses)

I wouldn't be surprised if these got in.

Also, use firebombs or go pyro on the moonlight butterfly, that should help you out for the fight.

RE: Dark Souls - TomGuycott - 04-10-2012

Another way to help with the Butterfly fight is to go there in human form and search under the staircase that leads up to her room. There's a white summon sign for an NPC, a caster who hits her pretty hard. I still recommend getting dodge rolling down, because the witch you summon isn't really going to stun her, just whittle her down. Also, be careful when you go in for melee, because she WILL respond with an explosive blast.

Also, that first screenshot for a potential new boss looks sinister as hell.

Level 24, and from what I can tell I'm using pretty low grade equipment. I have a sorcerer's catalyst, and a longsword +2 in the right hand, in the left I have a knight shield. My armor is a chain helm +1 and a hollow solider armor +1 Sorcerer Gauntlets and Sorcerer Boots.

Right now I'm leveling and collecting for souls for better equipment.
Thanks for all the pointers guys it's appreciated.

RE: Dark Souls - Rai - 04-10-2012

Can you pause the (FUCKING) game this time around? I'm rarely "just" gaming.

RE: Dark Souls - TomGuycott - 04-10-2012

Nope, still balls-to-the-wall unpauseable. Mainly because the TRUE experience is meant to have constant PVP assholery.

RE: Dark Souls - Rai - 04-10-2012

That's... all kinds of bullshit. It's the reason why I couldn't get into Demon's Souls (although the testicle-crushing difficulty was a nice change from having my hand held the whole way through).

Still, I have no internet connection whatsoever at home, so I'unno if offline play would include that.

RE: Dark Souls - Marth - 04-10-2012

Ok how do you conduct PVP? Becasue the most I've seen are a few people running around my world as like ghosts by bonfires? Only really player interaction I get are stupid messages all over the floors :/

RE: Dark Souls - TomGuycott - 04-10-2012

PVP is done in a variety of ways. Most involve Covenants. I won't spoil what covenant does what, but there are several areas that have Covenant Specific invasions. In essence, if you enter an area a member of that Covenant may be summoned to kill you.

There are also several covenants that promote co-op play. If you are in any of those you see much more summon signs of those who are in your same covenant.

Then there's three non-covenant ways to interact. The White Soapstone leaves your summon sign so you can be called into another world to help. A Cracked Red Eye orb is a limited resource that allows you to invade another's game. They are limited per playthrough (unless certain circumstances are met) and you lose it whether or not you successfully invade a game, kind of discouraging it unless you are DEDICATED to being an invader (in which case there's a very specific covenant for you). The last is the Red Soapstone, found VERY late in the game, which lets you leave a Red Summon Sign that lets you be summoned as a Red Phantom to do battle with the summoner; in other words, an intentional duel.

If you see a blue or red ghost, you are being invaded by a hostile invader who wants your blood.

RE: Dark Souls - Marth - 04-10-2012

Ah, seems pretty fun. I guess i need to start playing in online mode a tad more then, and not joining xbox live parties.

RE: Dark Souls - TomGuycott - 04-10-2012

Be warned, invaders usually don't have ANY remorse about ruining your current life. Believe me, I've done it a fair share, solely because I wanted to unlock things.

... DON'T JUDGE ME!!

RE: Dark Souls - PrettyNier - 04-11-2012

Once I just ran up and backstabbed a dude and one-hit-killed him as he was running to open the shortcut in Anor Londo and he didn't even see me. He must have been pissed.

And then there was the guy I Forced off the edge who was shooting arrows at the dragons tail to get the drake sword.

I am kind of mad at you just for mentioning this because some douchebag came up to me and killed me while I was trying to get the drake sword.

THAT FUCKING HAND THING HOLY HELL.

they better get this content to be DLC for the PS3 and 360 because it will suck if it doesn't

Also rumor is going around that it will have GFWL (games for windows live) which will suck if it's true since it's well, shit.
