Yes... RE: VGR's "30 Days" Discussion - GrooveMan.exe - 05-30-2011 Right, and that's all 30 Days! The 31st will be dedicated to all the late entries and stuff I ended up not getting. If there are any scraps that you want put up, please send them to me today; or forever hold your peace. RE: VGR's "30 Days" Discussion - PrettyNier - 05-30-2011 So like that God of War entry I sent in, then? RE: VGR's "30 Days" Discussion - Ton - 05-30-2011 Oh damn, it was due today. Work's been kicking my ass. I'll crank that final article out ASAP. The point of the 31st is to upload the late entries, yes. Although if you could take that extra bit of time to actually have it in the ballpark of 1k words, that would be nice. RE: VGR's "30 Days" Discussion - Asther - 05-31-2011 This event's announcement at the top of every page is gone, but the collapsible box it was in is still there, just empty. RE: VGR's "30 Days" Discussion - GrooveMan.exe - 05-31-2011 Yeah I uh Don't know how to turn that off. I need to think of a replacement announcement. Given the consensus that it feels cut off and that it barely even begins to talk about what i'm trying to talk about in depth, i'm going to say that I probably won't be able to get it too much lower. I'll see what I can do, though. RE: VGR's "30 Days" Discussion - GrooveMan.exe - 05-31-2011 The article's really solid, but writing for a word count just happens to be something you need to work at, is all. In other contexts word counts might not matter, or are much longer (newspapers have much higher word counts for main features and the like). Under a different circumstance you might have had the option of serialising it, and going into fine detail about your topic. But since a part of this is how well the submissions keep to the constraints set, that's why I was pushing for word count pretty hard; moreso than deadlines. Knowing that you have more to say, and that you have to sacrifice parts of that to adhere to regulations is a big part of formal writing, and actually something that even I'm still working on. RE: VGR's "30 Days" Discussion - PrettyNier - 05-31-2011 Fair enough. It is something I should work on a little bit. I suppose it doesn't help that actionbutton.net is kind of my model as far as approaching the topic (writing about video games) goes, and uh, the average actionbutton review is about 6-7 times longer than my god of war II article. ~ |
