Generation 3 has the best region with the most potential for a great expansion if there were to be a remake. You live in an area that is mostly submerged in water, and there is a lot of emphasis on exploring the seas... even exploring inside of the seas.
seriously how fucking excited were you when you learned that you could DIVE UNDERWATER

they unfortunately didn't give dive areas much content but there is just so much potential for the idea and I would love to see it reintroduced.
Diving made me a giddy little 5th grader, that was one of the most fun parts.

@Azure: It's really fascinating how similar BiS's soundfont is to Pokémon's.

And I can't find a remake of FR/LG's Mt. Moon in B/W style. Sad

Ahh I couldn't find it thanks. Tongue

That's an... interesting take on it. Wonder if it would sound similar to that in an actual Gen. 5 remake. I hope it would be spookier.

The Ruby and Sapphire remakes will most likely have a soundfont on its own.
DPP had a different soundfont than HGSS. (I loved the guitars in that soundfont)
@Might Jetters: When you say an actual gen 5 remake, do you mean that you would like to see a Fire Red and Leaf Green remake, or would like to be able to visit hoenn in the RS remakes.

RE: Gen 3 - The Most Under-rated Pokemon Gen? - Garamonde - 01-28-2012

I was talking about a 5th Gen. (B/W) FR/LG remake, but then I realized it'd be silly to remake a remake. Tongue

Either way yeah, I don't really want one, I just wondered what FR/LG's Mt. Moon would sound like if Game Freak made it in B/W style.

I don't see red and green getting remade again until it's the 25 anniversary.

The only reason why we got FR/LG in the first place was to solve the problem with backwards compatibility between the Game Boy and GBA games. I doubt they'd do it in generation 5 since it would be pointless.

Unless it's a complete 3d remake then I'd settle for that.

I'd say that's a valid point exceeeept they made HG/SS in Gen IV, and that didn't really solve any backwards compatibility issues. Game Freak loves patterns and Game Freak loves money. I'm almost positive we'll see a Gen III remake in Gen V.

Edit: Oh whoops misread that, we were talking about a Red/Green remake. Point still stands, though.

HG/SS was more due to the batteries dying out after 10 years than backwards compatibility. The johto pokemon were already easily obtainable through FireRed+LeafGreen and Colosseum+XD; Also Emerald.

Gen 3 remakes are definitely not as set in stone as Gen 2 remakes. For one, all you need to do to transfer your Gen 3 pokemon to Black/White is to transfer to Gen 4 via Pal Park, then Gen 5 through the two DSes method.

Gen 6 will most likely be when the Gen 3 remakes will become more viable. Hell, Grey is already a well... grey area due to the release timing of Gen 5.

By the by, I have edited my original post with my thoughts on Gen 3 as I am blitzing through them all now.

Only pattern I'm seeing in terms of remakes is that it takes longer to come out then the previous remakes compared to when the originals came out.

Are you talking about how FireRed+LeafGreen came out before Emerald, while HeartGold+SoulSilver came out after Platinum?

RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Maxpphire - 01-29-2012

No because since when does the remakes to anything come out the same year as the originals?

RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Azure-Tranquility - 01-29-2012

Let's see...

Pokemon Red+Green - 2/27/96
Pokemon FireRed+LeafGreen - 1/29/04

Pokemon Gold+Silver - 11/21/99
Pokemon HeartGold+SoulSilver - 9/12/09

RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Koopaul - 01-29-2012

Me? I disliked Gen III because of the Pokemon. To me they were ugly, red-eyed, monstrosities that looked more in place with Metroid than Pokemon.

Even the more Pokemon-looking Pokemon had shades and hues that made me sick. You didn't get these vivid colors you got these grayish-greens and yellow-browns and bleh!

This is just my opinion though. I always hated the designs. Gen 5 brought back the charm and quirkiness of the original that I missed.

RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Maxpphire - 01-30-2012

Exactly, it took longer for gen 2 remakes to appear then the gen 1 remakes.
