RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Davy Jones - 03-23-2013 1st row - correct palette, miscoloured palette 2nd row - deleted black background, correct palette had black in its sprite 3rd row - combined both sprites 4th row - recoloured the obvious false colour back to black. Anyway, you can solve any issue with black background by this method. In this case (Kyle from Lunar SSSC) it was obvious, but if it's just about a few pixels, you can also compare the sprites if you're suspicious. The first two rows should be enough for a quick control. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Garamonde - 03-23-2013 ohhhh! that's really ingenious. that will definitely be helpful. thank you Davias. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Reichu - 04-01-2013 Davy Jones: I haven't encountered any SF sprites that use black in their palette so far, thankfully. Even so, your trick could well prove useful in the future. Thanks for the share! Magma Dragoon: Nice to see Orlouge and BossX up. (How do you bypass the submission process, anyway? Is it just one of those things that can happen once you get enough of a reputation?) Curious, are you planning to eventually update the Orlouge sheet with his field sprites? It would make sense for there to be only one Orlouge sheet (at least, going by Barubary's example, which has ALL sprites associated with a particular character included on a single sheet). Also, which characters, if any, are you planning to tackle next? This reminds me of a little problem that's been niggling me for some time. I do intend to update some of my sheets so that they're complete (i.e., not just battle sprites, but everything). It's my work, so submitting replacements for it seems like a non-issue (though I do understand that it would be best to get things right the first time!). However, what about updates to preexisting sheets that are not my own? For example, the Asellus sheet only includes her battle sprites. If I wanted to "update" this (assuming the original author lacks interest), would the simplest solution be to do the whole thing over again from scratch as my work, and submit that? But that seems to lack a touch of courtesy. So would it be better, then, to first try to contact Dazz, and ask to incorporate his/her work into an updated sheet as a sort of collab? Oh, I'm so confused! @Admins: At the moment, the organization of the sprites seems like it could use a slight overhaul. Here's what I would suggest, if it is possible to implement. Supercategory: Characters Subcategory: Playable Characters Subcategory: Non-playable Characters Supercategory: Enemies Subcategory: Normal Enemies [or whatever] Subcategory: Bosses [Kirin goes under "Bosses". Earth Dragon and HQ Core might as well count, too.] Supercategory: Backgrounds Subcategory: Field Backgrounds Subcategory: Battle Backgrounds [So far, "Vs. Kylin" is the only battle background up, but there will be a lot more once I process them.] Supercategory: Attacks [or possibly "Battle Effects", to start off using a wider umbrella?] [Mirage Magic would go here. Can worry about subcategories if/when there are more items?] That said, I have some more stuff for everyone! I'll categorize them according to the scheme proposed above. Playable Characters UnicornJr. [Feels weird to put UnicornJr. under "playable characters", but it's a monster form that's only available to playable monster characters, so... whatev.] Non-playable Characters Ren Joker Normal Enemies Pickbird Unicorn Iceworm Bosses Skulldrake Field Backgrounds Emelia's House [This is a replacement for this, following Davy Jones' suggestion to include the layers. Icon stays the same.] RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Garamonde - 04-01-2013 nono, it's 100% fine to update anyone's sheets. you don't need to contact anyone either, so long as their sheet doesn't say like "DO NOT EDIT SHEET WITHOUT PERMISSION" or something silly like that. you're making them better after all. also, the way our categorizing system works, based on your listing, it would actually be set up like this: Playable Characters Non-Playable Characters (or NPCs) Enemies Bosses Backgrounds Miscellaneous we don't do things in "sub-categories", if something is an enemy or boss it all goes into one section. unless of course it's a special/certain case. if you want though, the battle bgs and overworld bgs can be in separate sections, though only if there are enough battle bg sheets to hold their own. That makes things much simpler! (And looking at Asellus more closely, it looks like I'd have to redo it from scratch anyway. I see a lot of stray pixels that remind me of my first attempts to piece together these awful tiles.) Quote:also, the way our categorizing system works, based on your listing, it would actually be set up like this:That's fine too. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Magma MK-II - 04-03-2013 @Reichu: I actually forgot about Orlouge's field sprites. I don't have any plan on ripping anything for a while (taking a break), but if you want to rip his field sprites, you may send them to me and I'll append them to the sheet. Also, since I have a save over all final bosses, I planned to get them all eventually. @Mighty: Earth Dragon, HQ Core and Kylin all go to the Bosses section. And why is the Mirage Magic sheet in the Bosses section? It should go to Miscellaneous. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Garamonde - 04-03-2013 actually I'm not uploading these so Ton is the one who did that. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Reichu - 04-04-2013 (04-03-2013, 01:55 PM)Magma Dragoon Wrote: if you want to rip his field sprites, you may send them to me and I'll append them to the sheet.Alright if I just post them here? I screengrabbed them from the debug room, since I don't yet have access to NPC field sprites from the disc image (working on that with mir_vimes). I guess Orlouge just floats around, and doesn't walk or anything? Sorry the rows are a little out of order (3, 4, 1, 2), but you can fix that easily enough. And there's so much to do for this game, I'm perfectly happy with you tackling the final bosses. Two more sheets, as well. Playable Characters Cotton Enemies Butch RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Garamonde - 04-06-2013 I just tested that site and it does create scrambled letters in the links, unfortunately. but otherwise that's a good site as it doesn't appear to compress images. will be noted in the future~ RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Reichu - 04-06-2013 Okay... huff huff... two more. Playable Characters Asellus This sheet replaces the preexisting (I redid it completely from scratch), and the previous icon is fine. Mostly complete now, though still missing a few sprites by my estimates. Enemies Lamia RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - renamed_for_privacy - 04-06-2013 There honestly isn't any way to find the field backgrounds without navigating pointer tables and subfiles, unless I have them documented somewhere and I forgot about it (always a possibility). I'm pretty sure the S***.RL files in /B_STAGE are images, though they don't appear to have pointer tables (maybe the data is always at certain locations?). The S***.ARC files in /B_STAGE2 have images in them as well. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Reichu - 04-08-2013 It's been a week since this post. Is there some reason for the delay? Do I just have to be patient, or is there something I ought to be doing? Some more sheets, as well. Nonplayable Characters Backgrounds This one replaces this. Icon stays the same. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Garamonde - 04-08-2013 we upload things when we get to them, yes. idk who'll do these, I have a lot of lazy days but I'll see if Ton isn't up to getting them. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - renamed_for_privacy - 04-09-2013 The Devin Shrine entrance would look wonderful at FantasyAnime, if you could animate it. Heck, it'd look great at the biolab, or anywhere else for that matter. RE: SaGa Frontier sprites - Ton - 04-10-2013 Ok, time to start saving stuff. Between this and the Fire Emblem project, I've got a busy day ahead. And if there are enough characters like the Unicorn Jr, we can give them their own section. Otherwise, is "Miscellaneous" ok? Or something like Playable Characters NPCs Playable Monsters Enemies Bosses etc etc etc |
