RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Garamonde - 09-29-2012 Umm it actually looks more like he's bumping the air... RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Jdaster64 - 09-29-2012 I couldn't come up with anything interesting with him just standing on the ground, so I went for a cartoon-ish pushing off the ground, then returning. Obviously, the arm motion could be a bit better; what exactly needs fixing? RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Virt - 09-29-2012 make the transition from pose a to pose b smoother like pose a is five pixels away from pose b or something and the inbetween frame only moves one or so pixels (those aren't exact numbers im just making an example) it looks kinda jerky RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Keiang - 09-29-2012 (09-29-2012, 02:01 PM)Jdaster64 Wrote: Obviously, the arm motion could be a bit better; what exactly needs fixing? Maybe it's because we spent the last page talking about how Shouty's fur looked like wangs, but, as Trollerskates pointed out, he kinda looks like he's jerking it. Just make it so his fist doesn't stroke an imaginary phallus. Move his hand away from his crotch, or change how his arm is bent or something. edit: actually looking back on this, i probably read this wrong. Aside from the arm issues, it is pretty jerky, especially around the backside. You need to make that smoother, maybe via another frame or something. RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Cobalt Blue - 09-29-2012 this is as far as i'm witht his atm. still waiting for news on the engine. RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Star - 09-30-2012 Ridge..your stuff is beautiful. YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL MAN As for my sprite, I'm not exactly finished with it yet(gotta make the hands and finish the space part of the cape). I'm still determining whether I should just leave the "space" part of the cape just like it is to keep simplicity or do more to it. RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Garamonde - 09-30-2012 I'm not sure if there's a little too much detail in some areas or not... I'm thinking that shading on his face isn't serving for much but I guess you should wait for a more experienced spriter to comment before you change anything. RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Link - 09-30-2012 The problem I immediately see is that most of your colors seem to just blend together due to lack of contrast. They're all really dark, so the bottom of the sprite is a blur compared to the bright star at the top. I would just make that red-purple of his cape a little bit brighter and it should be fine. Here's an edit to show what I mean: Otherwise, I love the general concept and desing of your character. Good going! RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Star - 09-30-2012 Thank you, Link! I was kind of having trouble choosing the right pallet for his cape lol I appreciate the edit as well as the comments! RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Virt - 09-30-2012 I don't think the brighter color is in the pallete. There are two colors similar to it, though. RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Previous - 09-30-2012 The face is overdetailed, mostly due to the overuse of AA (tone ot down, it seems like you overdo on the AA all the time, so for this style even more ; ) The bulge between the eyes (at the bottom of the opening) seems to be a tiny tad to far on the (viewer's) left. Try not to use selout for this style; it doesn't really work well, especially because there will be multiple different backgrounds. As for the inside of the cloak, I'm not really sure what to do. If you make it flutter in the idle, perhaps that'll show the body better, since it won't be moving with it? <--rough example RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Ridge Troopa - 09-30-2012 I have carried on my father's legacy.... My life has meaning. (Pretty sweet character, by the way.) Star, you should use Baegal's edits... Although, I kind of prefer the original detail on the collar/cape. RE: THE FIGHTERS RESOURCE - Official Thread - Garamonde - 09-30-2012 In the first sprite, you can actually see the body fairly well IMO. Maybe he should just discard the stars inside the cape. I also agree with Ridge, I prefer the little fold detail on the one side of the cape, and it looks much better hanging down behind him to me. In fact, I did a quick color swap on the inside of his cape that solves the readability problem. The color probably doesn't match his character's design but I figure since we're already sacrificing detail, a slightly different color in one area wouldn't hurt (though only if Sean likes it of course). I realize it doesn't look spacey anymore, but... oh well? |
