Even CBL and Mighty are their own characters, even if they are near identical to Luigi and Bomberman respectively.
Blue, I'm not encouraging you to make a Sonic custom character, because I'd never forgive myself if I did. I'm just saying, be more you than what another company spent weeks/months/years designing in character.
You're not Sonic the Hedgehog, you are BlueBlur97 (until you change your username, depending on the popularity and fame of your previous name).
If you can create a custom character, preferably one that is you all the way, we can give you love. Otherwise, it's Sonic fan-art.
This doesn't mean you have to change your avatar and discription. Mighty is a good example.

This is what I made as an example that you can still use the 'crap' you have and make it your own, while it's still BlueBlur97.
Unlike the edit you posted, it's easier to identify this as you. You can use this design as your own in any way you like (obviously, if you claim this drawing in particular, I'll bury my kitty claws in your face), but you don't have to. Consider this love, though this is more of a lesson.
