RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Jovian-12 - 03-03-2010 I don't mind a lot of legendaries...I kind of see it like a mythos where the "legendaries" are the mythical creatures, spirits, etc, that guard over certain aspects of the world. there may be a couple at the top of the power scale but they're still all "legendary." however, a ton in a single game is just stupid. gen 5 better tone it down... RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Ton - 03-03-2010 Generation 5 news! -Choose between three legendaries as your starter; Unique Fire, Water, and Grass types that came together to create the world! -Three legendary Crocodiles that roam the world waiting for you to find them! They are Psychic/Ice, Steel/Lightning, and Dark/Poison! -Two Flying-Type Legendaries that were created when the three crocodiles once did battle! -Two opposing pokemon with the power of matter and antimatter who fight for control of the universe! -A third mediator between the two who controls them from afar! -The four gods that created Arcaeus! -A cute legendary that does nothing! -Its legendary offspring--one for each type! -The land itself, which turns out to be the back of a giant Pokemon! -The Pokemoon--The fucking MOON is a Pokemon!! -Holy fucking shit YOU AND YOUR RIVAL ARE BOTH LEGENDARIES FROM THE FUTURE! RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Alpha Six - 03-03-2010 What does that have to do with the overwhelming amount of legendaries? :| RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Vipershark - 03-03-2010 heatran and the other terrible legendaries could've easily been regular non-evolving one stage pokemon instead of legendaries. I'm not talking about their stats. RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Koopaul - 03-03-2010 Moving away from legendaries I'mma post some things I'd like them to do but they never did... Gold and Silver added day and night so the next thing I was expecting was seasons. -Here's what would be cool about it: It would not only change the environment but also what Pokemon appear in the wild. Certain Pokemon even change appearance during certain seasons. For example: Oddish's leaves will change color each season and Buneary will turn white during winter. Almost no bird, bug or grass Pokemon will be present during winter with a few exceptions. Some fire Pokemon are only present during summer. You'll find more unevolved bug Pokemon during the Spring, and more evolved Bugs during the Fall: (Caterpie = March, April, May, June) (Metapod = June, July, August) Butterfree = August, September, October) -Night and Day should have a greater impact on Pokemon: More Pokemon that used to appear 24 hours will now have schedules. Venonat used to appear 24 hours but now only appears at night. Pikachu only appears in the day. This will make the game constantly changing and full of surprises. Hunting and training Pokemon will be a unique experience all year round. -Gold and Silver added Red as your final battle so I was expecting to fight the Gold/ Silver trainer in Ruby and Sapphire versions... Didn't happen. -Finally evolving certain Pokemon should be easier and you no longer need Incense to to breed baby Pokemon. There is no longer a Dawn and Dusk stone, they have been replaced with Sun and Moon Stone respectively. Seriously that was just silly. Shiny Stone is gone completely and replaced by other means of evolution. The constant addition of evolution items is getting sickening. Just change the rules. Who cares if they didn't evolve that way before? RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Sengir - 03-03-2010 They're trying to keep the continuity. Oh wait, what about the new gen 2 steel-type Magnemite or Pokemon with levitate that can't be affected by ground-type moves that were in gen 1/2? RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Koopaul - 03-03-2010 Yeah or completely changing the whole Special and Physical attacks in 4th generation? Or Pikachu paralyzing you upon touching it etc... They've changed the rules so many times, but when it comes to evolution they don't wanna touch that. RE: Pokemon, what happened to you? - Alpha Six - 03-03-2010 I think that the reason you didn't fight Gold at the end of RSE is because Gold and Silver is more or less a direct sequel to R/B/G/Y. Hence why you can travel back to Kanto, and all the past references they make. 3rd gen is its own game. So, the 4th gen should have been a sequel as well. Instead, they made 4th gen its own story arc, as well. No connections from the 3rd gen were made. You couldn't even go back to Hoenn. Which is another thing that I think makes the 4th gen kinda odd in my eyes. Instead of following the really neat pattern they had, they just kinda broke it and decided to make Sinnoh this super-incredible area and made no connections to the 3rd gen. And that's okay-- I'm sure everybody agrees that Johto was probably the plainest out of the regions. But I still think that if they pulled back some of the legendaries and saved them for gen 5, and made gen 4 more related to gen 3, there wouldn't be nearly as many complaints. |
