RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - megamario1234 - 09-01-2012 The hand can be seen on the side pose and I readjusted his hand on the battle pose while Geno's releasing his canon. 1st Attempt: 2nd Attempt: RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - megamario1234 - 12-14-2012 Here is the revised idle version of Geno. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Virt - 12-14-2012 It's looking really great! However, the back of the cap seems to shrink instead of curve upwards, and the cape seems to grow outwards, instead of curving I think the term for this is "cloth formula" or something. It's an animation term. I learned about it from an art book my dad has.. I'll see if I can find some tutorials about it for you. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Ridge Troopa - 12-14-2012 Much nicer than other renditions! Clean lines, good colors for the most part, and the animation is decent. The animation you added to the clothes is an improvement as well, though still a bit strange. A very good reference for this would be Dark Fawful, or any character with hanging/drooping parts. Though - and I hate to harp on this again - this really upbeat, bouncy sort of idle just does not fit with Geno's character at all. I'm not sure what kind of character you're trying to portray him as, but he's not Pinocchio by any means... Geno is rather serious. Realistically, if he moved at all at idle stance, it'd be much more focused and less uppity. Aside from that... I'm just really confused what he's even doing. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Koopaul - 12-16-2012 Who says he's the same Geno? Geno is a lifeless doll. The star known as "♥♪!?" is the serious guy you're talking about. I assume anyone (with the ability to do so) could posses that doll and assume the identity "Geno" But that's probably not what the OP intended. Sorry I'm rambling off on my own ideas. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Ridge Troopa - 12-16-2012 So you'd rather the OP insert fan-canon than make fitting animations. That makes about as much sense as spriting obsolete characters in another style, if you want to take that route. If he's going to sprite the Geno from Mario RPG (why would you do otherwise???) then it should fit with that character. Even if you were just posting to be silly, I don't see how it was necessary to derail my crit like that. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - OSL - 12-17-2012 I thought it was overshaded... just trying to help (: RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Koopaul - 12-18-2012 Sheesh no need to get upset. I was simply reminded of something that was on my mind a little while ago. Awesome fix. Though I'd consider making the grooves under the eyes and around the mouth the darker brown. Unfortunately, that may make the face look too crowded. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - megamario1234 - 01-04-2013 Here is the revamped version of Geno's idle. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - megamario1234 - 01-16-2013 Update. Here is the revamped version of Geno releasing his canon. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Ton - 01-16-2013 The cape is a bit stiff. It should move like his hair and hat do. In his idle, I'm not sure what he's supposed to be doing. In Geno's idle, I'm trying to make his fists move forward in a circle while he opens and closes one of his fists. I am just trying to make Geno's fists move in order to show that he is seriously ready to knock out his enemies with his fist canon and laser beam. I'm looking for a simple idle stance that show's Geno's serious personality when he moves his fists. Edit: I just realized that I should probably bring Geno's fists up to show that he's a fighter instead of bringing his fists down for his idle. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Ridge Troopa - 01-19-2013 I'm with Ton, I'm not really sure what he's supposed to be doing in his idle. When I said Geno is more 'serious' I meant to a greater extent than bobbing up and down. While Geno's dialogue is enthusiastic at times ("Yo, Smithy!"), he's a wooden doll and very intent on thrashing anyone who's in his way. The current one... I'm just really unsure what you're going for - it's almost like he's begging for something. If I had to suggest something, I'd say try a fighting stance with less of his body parts bouncing around. I wish I could give you something more solid as an example but idle animations are really something that is based on character interpretation and how you want them to be represented. RE: Geno Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Battle) - Ton - 01-21-2013 Just a "breathing" cycle would be cool enough, I think. That way the hair and hat could bob and the cape could flow. He'd look awesome and ready for battle. His attacks could have that fun aggression from his character. Geno is a lot of things. He's the brain of the team, the badass, and a bit of a wise-ass. All three of those should help you come up with some good animations. |
