RE: I'd like to learn - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-12-2014 If you're using Paint, there should be some boxes on the corners of the canvas, which you can pull to resize. For the uploading: rename your file. I don't think there's another way around it. RE: I'd like to learn - FinalSmash - 04-12-2014 But I don't want the sprite resized. I only want the uploaded picture bigger so you can see the shading I did. UPDATE: I'm working on Paper Mario: RE: I'd like to learn - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-12-2014 My advice was for changing the size of the canvas. You'll have to resize the picture if you want us to see the shading you did, except you'll have to resize it proportionally to twice its size or more. I suggest you work on a grey background: it'll help you later on to lay down highlights and shadows if you start in greyscale. I like that Mario btw! RE: I'd like to learn - Level 1 - 04-12-2014 The Mario looks fine, again, the line art looks jagged, smooth that out a bit. Also, his nose isn't very circular. And finally, I see no M in the cap haha, Good job so far. RE: I'd like to learn - orochii - 04-12-2014 RESIZING IN PAINT 101 (?): * Press Ctrl-W. * Put your desired values. * ??? * Profit! (???). Okay, no profit. === Nice Mario =). Only things I don't like are the ear details. But let's see how you resolve it at the end, after all it's just the base non-definitive lineart. And finally, I see no M in the cap haha, Good job so far. Thanks guys! You're very encouraging. I agree about the nose, and the "M" I'm gonna do last, as it's inside the white circle, and thus can be done later. You don't really have much of a choice since you have to preserve the quality. The best way to show things at a bigger size is to put both the original 1:1 sprite and a scaled-up version on the same canvas. (Watch this in fullscreen.) (Sorry this is so quiet, I didn't realize my microphone was turned so far down until after I finished.) Results in this. RE: I'd like to learn - FinalSmash - 04-14-2014 Thanks that helped. Paper Mario Yoshi Baby Yoshi I think that's my best one so far. RE: I'd like to learn - Level 1 - 04-14-2014 Hmm lots of progress here, but again, the lines are all jagged, the need some smoothing, probably some AA too. RE: I'd like to learn - E-Man - 04-14-2014 Not bad, Final Smash, but don't forget about hue shifting and making the shades have better contrast. I already posted a link to a page that has some details about hue shifting a few posts ago, so why not look it up? RE: I'd like to learn - Vipershark - 04-14-2014 You've got a lot of jaggies in these. Look at your lines. See how they make... steps? You've got corner parts on your outlines and you need to remove those. I did that on the top of the head. See how the outlines are a lot cleaner now? They aren't perfect and still have issues but they aren't so ugly looking. Go through all three of your sprites and clean them up. RE: I'd like to learn - FinalSmash - 04-15-2014 So the pixels should only(for the most part)touch on the corners? Am I understanding that correctly? RE: I'd like to learn - Vipershark - 04-15-2014 On the outlines, yes, more or less. Granted, there are times when the "steps" are okay but those are very rare and you should avoid them. For right now, just stay under the impression that you shouldn't have steps unless they're impossible to avoid. As they are, they're just jaggies and make your sprite(s) look bad. RE: I'd like to learn - FinalSmash - 04-15-2014 Better? RE: I'd like to learn - Level 1 - 04-15-2014 Yeah much better, the lines are much smoother. Now to the coloring, I see you put in some shading already, but the colors are too hard to distinguish. Make the shading colors (darker colors) darker. |
