RE: Mario Kart 8 - Iceman404 - 05-02-2014 Christ... why does this game look so easy? RE: Mario Kart 8 - Gwen - 05-02-2014 Because you're getting older. Mario Kart has never been that difficult. Going back to older ones I find myself murdering them with my skillz. RE: Mario Kart 8 - Iceman404 - 05-02-2014 No, that isn't the case here. Everyone knows how difficult Double Dash's Rainbow Road was in comparison to this. Speaking of Double Dash, wow that game had really great level design. RE: Mario Kart 8 - Sevenstitch - 05-02-2014 Double Dash is my personal favorite entry in the franchise and not only because I demolish whenever I play it The only real thing holding DD back was the number of levels; there weren't enough of them This rainbow road does seem a little.. safe? I guess I mean the turns just don't seem as hard to navigate as previous entries Although the layout of Rainbow Road isn't that important to me, Its been my least favorite track of every other entry to date RE: Mario Kart 8 - Iceman404 - 05-02-2014 Double Dash!! is actually my favorite installment in the series. I feel like it got absolutely EVERYTHING correct that I could've ever wanted, I should write a list on just how much it got right sometime. Oh God I already loved the track but now I love it mooooore. EDIT: OH MY GOD THE MUSIC EVEN SITUATIONALLY CHANGES FOR EACH LAP. RE: Mario Kart 8 - Fawfulthegreat64 - 05-02-2014 This game looks so great except for the roster right now. The Koopalings were already "meh" to me. But then when they mentioned new challengers, I sat up in my seat expecting someone awesome. Instead they reveal Baby Rosalina and Pink Metal Peach. I was literally like "You have got to be kidding me." Nintendo didn't get the memo that reskins aren't acceptable additions that take up roster space. Especially over mainstays like Bowser Jr., King Boo, Diddy Kong, and Birdo. And where's the fucking awesome newcomers? I was really hoping to see Fawful in this game, not only because he's my favorite Mario character but because they NEVER add anyone from the RPGs into Mario Kart or other spinoffs. Why? Add Fawful and Mona from WarioWare (also underrepresented in Mario spinoffs), along with Bowser Jr, King Boo, Birdo, and Diddy Kong then maybe they'll redeem themselves a bit. Hell, it would be a middle finger to make us pay for the veterans but I'll take them as DLC if I have to, just give me the mainstays and at least Fawful because it's about damn time I get to play as my favorite Mario character. RE: Mario Kart 8 - Koopaul - 05-03-2014 A couple of theories why. 1. Developers don't like using characters created outside of the Nintendo EAD department. Mario Kart is made by Nintendo EAD group No. 1. The New Super Mario Bros. series is developed by Group No. 4. Mario 3D World was made by EAD Tokyo. All these teams have a bond and have been known to use each others characters. 2. Miyamoto likes to whitewash as many Mario games as he can. Remember Paper Mario: Sticker Star? 3. Characters like Fawful are made by Alpha Dream, a second-party subsidiary of Nintendo. It's possible that Nintendo EAD doesn't talk to this company much and they aren't even aware that these characters exist! 4. The Mario Kart developers are lazy. They don't want to make 3D models for characters that have only been seen in 2D. That would take more work and consideration for characters they might not even care about. RE: Mario Kart 8 - Gors - 05-03-2014 I bet it was extremely lazy of them to make a HD game after all RE: Mario Kart 8 - Koopaul - 05-03-2014 These aren't my theories. They are the ones I hear all the time. RE: Mario Kart 8 - IndyGo - 05-03-2014 I would have been happy if we even got Plessie along with Sprixie Princess. Apparently we needed DA-styled Original The Characters. RE: Mario Kart 8 - Kitsu - 05-03-2014 (05-03-2014, 03:53 AM)Koopaul Wrote: 1. I've never felt legitimately sorry for an intellectual property or understand how it must feel until about two minutes ago when I read this post. ): RE: Mario Kart 8 - MrYoshbert - 05-03-2014 (05-03-2014, 03:53 AM)Koopaul Wrote: 2. Remember Paper Mario: Sticker Star? Now that's a bit of a stretch, especially since Miyamoto has little to no involvement with the Mario Kart series at all. Hell, the dude's getting less and less involved with the very recent games; he's giving the younger devs more control. It seems to me that they just wanted two more heavy and lightweight female characters, and those two would've fit the bill (Plessie is a girl, right?). Hell, if they just needed two more characters period, they could've used the two characters who were cut from past Mario Karts in development: Kamek and Professor E. Gadd (who were supposed to be in MK64 and MKDS respectively). RE: Mario Kart 8 - Kriven - 05-03-2014 E. Gadd seriously needs to get in on these games. There's just too much that can be done with his inventions to leave him out. RE: Mario Kart 8 - Fawfulthegreat64 - 05-03-2014 E. Gadd, Kamek and Toadsworth are my most-wanted (non-RPG) newcomers. But apparently Nintendo thinks we sit and chant "More Mario! Shiiiny! More Peach! Shiiiny!" so they keep giving us "Shiiiny" metal versions of other characters instead of, you know, actual characters. |
