One of the developers said in an interview that Mario Maker's physics was based on the NSMB series', so I guess they would base it on NSMBU (or something like it). BTW, could you explain how you can apply normal maps to images? I can't find anything on Google. It's actually a lot of work, all the renders I'd need to do is basically what's holding me back from just batch-uploading the rest of the NSMBU-style sprites.
