RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Zapchu25 - 11-15-2014 I don't know.. I think you should really nail down the line art before you start animating anything. Your current sprite isn't really distinguishable as PBG. Look at some references. Large PBG Image And of course I have to be the douche to resprite everything. But even sprites at such a small size CAN resemble actual people. RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Joxon - 11-15-2014 Okay, well is there any way to make the current sprite look like PBG without making any drastic changes? Because, I really like how this version looks, and I'm in no way really considering respriting again. RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Kelvin - 11-15-2014 Did you have to post such a huge image? Also, if he's gonna do a sprite like yours, I have a couple suggestions: Here, I made the nose smaller, because drawing a full nose on a sprite that size looks ridiculously huge. Also, his mouth is too wide and looks like a muppet, and I changed the shoes to work better with the angle his legs are at. However, now that you have taken so many characteristics out of the face, it looks more indistinguishable. This particular pixel design is more of a caricature than it is a character, and can be embellished differently than it normally would have been. PBG is defined not only by his hair and goatee, but also by his tall, sloping nose. Thanks for the feet btw. I extended the mouth one more pixel. The nose also provides contrast of shades on the face. Before his face looked meek and curious like Kirby. * The whole thing needs colour correction anyway. If you really want it to look like PBG, you're going to need to do an overhaul on the head. It needs to have that classic swooshing hair and tall face. RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Joxon - 11-15-2014 I did try changing his face around to look more like you example but... PS I have a goal to keep in the 32x32 canvas. RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Kelvin - 11-15-2014 I think I see what you mean. The head-on pic made me miss that detail of the nose, so I looked at him from an angle similar to your sprite. But wait a minute... Weren't we... weren't we talking about another sprite? Oh yeah, Joxon! Yeah, after taking a closer look, I think that if you're gonna keep your current style, you should at least make the hair more like what Zapchu did. There is a big difference there. [EDIT] Gah, we posted at the same time. ^^ RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Joxon - 11-15-2014 Talk about timing... RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Joxon - 11-15-2014 I don't wanna seem like a dumb butt, but where are the jagged lines? RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Kelvin - 11-15-2014 I see some on the pants. The rest seem smooth enough. RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Joxon - 11-15-2014 RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Kelvin - 11-15-2014 They're still kinda jagged, but now his right leg looks broken. I don't like the way it's facing backwards, either. You should turn it forward and maybe tilt the foot outwards a bit. RE: PeanutButterGamer Sprites - Joxon - 11-15-2014 Does it look okay with a smile? Edit: Front sprite: |
