RE: What did you started drawing? - Shawn - 04-24-2009 anime = gay realism = boring everyone needs a happy medium!! also true story. i sprited first and drew my sprites but bigger. i later began drawing. i also drew a lot of pokemon when i was younger but thats not important! RE: What did you started drawing? - xSakuraxAngelx - 04-26-2009 i started off, my friend taught me how to draw manga styled drawings which she learnt the technique from a how-to book, then after a few years i just developed my own style. but ever since i've been writing a story, i havent been able to draw as much, but i still do draw a bit RE: What did you started drawing? - LilGrim1991 - 04-26-2009 Here's the major secret teachers won't tell you till you're good enough to do "self-critiques": Drawing from life doesn't mean drawing in realism. Ever. You will never be able to duplicate or emulate a figure or subject perfectly. If you wanted that, you might as well get a photograph. A drawing is an interpretation of what you personally find interesting in a piece. There are countless, possibly infinite number of factors or variables that make up what your drawing. You just have to choose the ones you want to illustrate in that piece. If you notice how especially bright that white plastic chair is in the sun, so much so that it appears to glow, emphasize that! If you're drawing/painting mountains and you find the atmospheric perspective interesting (the mountains, as they get farther away, get more obscured by the moisture in the air and become less color-saturated), than emphasize that. At the end of the day, its always your INTERPRETATION. If you only focus on making it exactly as you see it without taking interest in certain details, it WILL suck. And those are my 2 cents. :v RE: What did you started drawing? - Kosheh - 04-26-2009 (04-24-2009, 03:44 PM)Prometheus Wrote: i also drew a lot of pokemon when i was younger but thats not important!i remember when i was a kid and i drew mewtwo perfect, without looking at a ref picture and without tracing i was so proud of myself that day and everyone thought i was a weirdo because i had it out on my desk the whole day and this was in 7th grade, I think I had some serious chris-chan going on RE: What did you started drawing? - xSakuraxAngelx - 04-27-2009 I used to draw pokemon when i was younger too! i had this pokemon book and i used to look at them and draw them lol... i think i still have that book somewhere RE: What did you started drawing? - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-27-2009 I used to create pokémon and shapeshifters ftw. There's always an element of realism (maybe 'convincing' is a better word than 'realistic'? IDK, I'm SLEEPY), so obviously you can't do ANIME STYLED KAWAII GESTURES, just to make sure nobody's misconstruing what you're saying here. That kind of intepreting eventually becomes second nature, but holy crap is it a steep learning curve RE: What did you started drawing? - JamesMorrow07 - 05-07-2009 When I first started drawing: Your guess's as good as mine. I first started drawing Yoshi (I still do, actually), then I moved on to drawing DBZ stuff; it got boring after a while. I started to do my own stuff in 7th grade and started my own spriting stuff in 8th (?). I had my inspirations for my characters from: - Gundam (which died down quickly) - Metroid Prime series - Marvel's Iron Man - Transformers (from Michael Bay film(s)) RE: What did you started drawing? - JosephSeraph - 05-07-2009 I remember the very first things i drew. I was 2, obsessed by vents(or whatever you call, it´s this:http://www.wiki2buy.com.br/images/6/6e/Ventilador.jpg) Then i met a girl, when i was 3. We were best friends. i was 4 and i started "liking her" =3 I drew we both marrying. Everyday i drew these, at least twice. Until i got 9... o.o' Then i starded drawing women in general ^^' RE: What did you started drawing? - Kosheh - 05-07-2009 i see. When I started drawing girls I'd be too obsessed on detailing the lady parts because I was always fascinated by them (because, uh at that point I've never seen them) since though, i actually saw boobs (when I was like 13), was rather disappointed and then from then on any boobs I drew were very, very subtle and...well, not as raunchy looking. Whenever I had the occasional busty-girl ask "hey, draw me your drawings are cute ^^" I'd always draw them with small boobs and they'd be like "It's really cute! But my boobs are too small." I didn't want to admit that I just didn't like drawing big boobs anymore because of the risks involved. btw, ventilador -> "fan" if you wanna get picky that specific one is an "oscillating fan", as the head moves 90 degrees, but calling it a "fan" is just fine. RE: What did you started drawing? - JarJar - 05-07-2009 sonic->cartoon characters-->pokemon-->anime--->anything goes shit i did it all, AT THE RIGHT TIME. RE: What did you started drawing? - Marth - 05-07-2009 Anime in like 4-5 grade, decided it was a bad idea and turned to cartoons. Did that for a while, then went to actual art classes with live models for figure drawing.
