Its just kind of hard, for me at least, to see a series I enjoyed so much when I was younger come more and more to resemble garbage over the years. I want this game to be good, but Sega seems to only want to make Sonic games games worse and worse lately though they've done rather well with other games. RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Helmo - 01-11-2010 I know right? It seems they want to do better at everything but thier main franchise. RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Flare - 01-11-2010 Didn't the people who made the advertisement let slip that Sega had came to them asking for an advert for a game that wasn't even in designing stages and really just something to keep fans wanting Sonic. RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Helmo - 01-11-2010 btw guys Sonic 2 for XBLA is pretty much what you guys seem to want so bad RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - D2S-Speed - 01-11-2010 The new ones are pure crap. The only one that I had high hopes for was Nex Gen but then it sucked up totally. It had potential, but they decided to stop doing hard work and making Fan Fantasies coming true. Bring back the old Genesis way. Sonic 1, 2, 3, and CD bring them BACK!!! RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Helmo - 01-11-2010 A remake of sonic 1, 2, and 3 on the DS with actual sprites would be amazing but... It really is best not to hope for too much from SEGA... RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Ultimecia - 01-11-2010 What's wrong about following the world formula? Somebody trying to TAKE OVER TAH WORLD. It works wonders for Mario (I don't like Mario, but even I admit that it's formula works). Adventure 1&2 were good, but they messed up too much from them. They dis-characterized Sonic to fill their script, created tons of Mary Sues and Stus, and tried to insert stuff that are not really compatible with Sonic Universe. I'd much rather have upscaled (and in effect, obviously pixellated) sprites than have to play through that awful blur-filter thing. edit- also the xbla "ports" are basically just butchered roms and the controls are odd, and iirc debug mode and the other codes don't work anymore. They dis-characterized Sonic to fill their script Could you elaborate on this because everything in Adventure 2 was pretty much perfect story wise imo. No characters were out of place, they had good writing (or do I need to show you the true power of teamwork!!??!?), Sa2 felt like the last game where the characters actually were the characters. RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Vipershark - 01-11-2010 that's because it was the last game where they truly were the characters. all the rest after SA2 (excluding the 2D games) sucked. RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Shadowth117 - 01-11-2010 SA2 had pretty good writing, but the mech character gameplay kinda sucked and many people didn't like the treasure hunting levels either. Sonic and Shadow's levels were pretty good, but it would have been great to see a few different paths to take in some of their more linear levels. I think after that they tried to change up the gameplay each game to keep things fresh, but only succeeded in adding shitty gimmicks and just making the games generally worse. RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Koopaul - 01-11-2010 At least there hasn't been one as bad as Shadow the Hedgehog or 2006. I thought Unleashed was a slight improvement. Still not good but getting back on track a little. RE: Sega Announces new 2D Sonic title - Cshad - 01-11-2010 The only treasure hunting levels I found really tedious to try to run through were the egg base and space colony ones. Yes I agree although we could've done without the werehog. 06 reminds of me of SA2 gameplaywise except that its infinitely worse. Sometimes I'll get extremely bored and try and S rank a level or two on it, but glitches often frustrate me until I can't even bother. Honestly I didn't mind the treasure hunting levels now that I think about it, but I don't think their gameplay belonged in a Sonic game. |
