RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Koopaul - 08-08-2013 Its not different. They're just megacharging Pokemon. RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Mutsukki - 08-08-2013 So, it's different. This is not an example of that case though...I really don't see the point of this, other than for someone to say "I changed my Mewtwo's form~" Digimon Savers/Data Squad, Burst Mode. That's what this is, but Pokemon style.(08-08-2013, 08:43 PM)SchAlternate Wrote: Mega evolutions? All they have to do is make the gameplay not so flippin' linear like it's been lately, and give the player freedom to explore, and do the gyms in any order. Also, being able to travel to another region ala G/S/C/HG/SS. Finally, some of the stuff announced already for Gen 6 that should've been in a long time ago, such as diagonal movement, swarm battles (4+ Pokemon attacking at once), etc. RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Gwen - 08-08-2013 As cool as it'd be to travel back to past regions, it would completely distract you from the NEW region which the game is all about, and would be more about reliving older gens than experiencing a new generation. You do have the freedom to explore, but like most games, you need to do something to move on(aka badges). I honestly don't get why these mega forms are so stupid, they're going to introduce a whole new dynamic to competitive pokemon, and give some pokemon that were never able to be competitive a chance to be competitive. As for previous regions, it was postgame content, which is fine. Let us soak in the new region, then have fun going back to an old region to see the changes to it after X number of years. For Gen II/IV remakes, it was 3 years later, so Kanto changed quite a bit. If X/Y allowed to visit Hoenn, that would actually be amazing, since the region was left along with the GBA. But instead of "plain old evolution" as you call it, they're spicing it up, throwing in something new, and it's not like evolution at all, it's the same pokemon, given a new spin in a way. But why not keep on exploring the new region? Why do you need to go back to an older region, it's not part of the story, and I'd rather not have them shoed into the game for the sake of "more" exploration. Because in the end, if you went back to the older regions, it'd be the same sights and possibly? different gym leaders, but that's it. More Gym Leaders.. It's just fluff, and it'd feel like filler if you ask me. It's something that's been done to death in various other sources, such as the aforementioned Digimon, Transformers, Sailor Moon, etc. It just looks like bandwagoning. Black and White proved that what was post content region (the other half of the circle) was not at all worth just shoving at the end. There was no reason for any of that to be post game, except maybe because of the higher leveled trainers, and would have easily given the players a branching point from the bottom half of the circle, instead of just having to traverse the region in a straight line (literally, by map, since the right half of the circle was completely closed off Pre-league). Instead of being bored out of my mind in the same region, I'd rather visit an older region to see what changed over the years, in addition to possibly being able to battle the original protagonist of said region (Red and Kanto), since the games almost never show what happens to the player characters after they become champion. It's also a chance for new Pokemon players to actually see these other regions that are sometimes mentioned in the game. The kids who are just now getting into Pokemon have no idea what a Hoenn is or what it looks like, until they either find out about emulators and get the roms of old, GameFreak decides to finally remake the set with the current Generation standards, or if the games allow them to visit said region. RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Mutsukki - 08-08-2013 Gold/Silver spoiled the fans really bad. It's the only game you can do that because it basically re used a BUNCH of assets from the older games. "It's easy to please me, just do all these things I want" RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Helmo - 08-08-2013 Black and White went everywhere I wanted pokemon to go in terms of style and such I just don't like the "edgyness" of the new designs RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Koh - 08-08-2013 (08-08-2013, 09:59 PM)Mutsukki Wrote: Gold/Silver spoiled the fans really bad. Pretty much every single series ever in one way or another has some sort of method of powering up something/somebody by adding to it. I don't get why Pokemon all of sudden is singled out for bandwagoning, when those series probably got the idea from something else as well. Not to mention that in Digimon, and Transformers, they just added mechanical limbs and shitload of weaponry. That's like saying "I can't believe this Mario game is playing like the one on SNES!" I don't think you understand what "assets" means. Gold/Silver re-used terrain assets (grass, building, cave sprites and etc) and did -some- tweaking for Kanto (if you remember, in the original the Gym Leaders mostly didn't had any type of puzzle in their gyms), aside from that it's basically the same |
