I'm pretty sure they are talking generally about Banjo getting into Smash Bros.
Rare, the company that makes the Banjo & Kazooie games is now owned by Microsoft.
Which is quite different from it being a 3rd-party company.

Oh this is true, this is very true, as Nintendo sold Rare awhile ago.
Y'know, gonna be honest, we rented Banjo-Kazooie a long time ago. Never really liked it.
