I'll put some thought into what would work best from a logical standpoint for a bit and try to come up with something with Petie. If he agrees, of course. To your first point, I agree that our current setup is sub-optimal. To your second though, there's not really a good way to do this. As long as the markup is there, most browsers will at least start to load that content and we switched to this 250 limit because the home page loading hundreds of items was starting to have a noticeable effect on server performance. I'm all for doing something about it if we can figure out a way to do so though. In reality, I suppose we could also just try removing the limit since we did this and cut it from 2 updates to 1 at the same time. Perhaps with a single update, it won't be so bad? That's likely wishful thinking but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. RE: Suggestions - Goemar - 03-25-2017 My preference would be for it to just show a max of 10 new sheets per game, but I'm sure doing such a thing would probably be a lot of work. Or even maybe change it to show game icons instead of sheet icons and then have it so new sheets have a little 'new' icon floating over them which dissappears after 14 days or so. That sounds like even more work mind... RE: Suggestions - Geno boost - 03-30-2017 hi i am new here and i want to ask something is it ok if i upload my models from blenders and not from 3Dmax here? i have some 3D models that some people asked me to upload it for example http://genoforsmash.deviantart.com/art/Smithy-true-form-sprite-3D-remake-627692623 and i am not sure if this is the best place to do it. RE: Suggestions - Puterboy1 - 04-03-2017 I think we should approach other users and ask them if they would be interested in submitting their sounds, textures and models to this site. So, Puterboy1, are you interested in submitting your sounds, textures and models to this site? Seems a little assertive of me to just ask that, right? It's also kinda redundant as most people who join VGR's main site are probably submitting things to the site, so I don't...really...think...this is a very fruitful suggestion here. (It's also a request but probably the most vague one I've ever heard so...I'm not even sure that's requesting at this point it's just telling us to do things more) Like...that's the entire point of this site. There are submissions posted every weekend. Just chill and be interested in the submitted sounds, textures and models posted on the website. It is telling us to do things more. And I am interested in submitting, in fact I am trying to submit as many sounds I can find, dialogue and SFX. Now all I have to do is wait for approval like everyone else so that this amazing library can grow to universal praise. RE: Suggestions - Inthegrave - 04-18-2017 I would love the option to add animated gifs to the spriters resource. But they should be hidden in a way that won't be an eyesore and not cause heavy page load. Imagine having the option to see this: Instead of this shit: https://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/smetroid/sheet/26320/ Its both visually appealing and useful to download. I know the image I linked to is meant for people who want to make there own animations, but what about the people who want the original beautifully crafted animations? Even just to maybe look at them? The only reason I can see not to add the option is if its too much work to implement or it takes to much space file size wise. RE: Suggestions - sutinoer - 04-19-2017 Yes I give them almost right, it would be nice to some zib files an animation to see an urban ziblogos. Who would be able to change anything? RE: Suggestions - Maxpphire - 04-22-2017 How about being able to report comments on the main sites? I feel like this one person is being overly Dickish. https://www.spriters-resource.com/playstation_3/persona5/ RE: Suggestions - Random Talking Bush - 04-22-2017 (04-22-2017, 01:29 PM)MaxATK Wrote: How about being able to report comments on the main sites? It's only one more click than it would have been otherwise and without the hassle of developing an entire system to handle something the forum already does for us. That said, you're entirely correct and I've addressed that particular problem. As for adding animations, I agree that sometimes it would be nice to see them but it's not currently in the cards. Perhaps once everything else we're working on is complete, we can revisit this idea though. RE: Suggestions - SickAlice - 04-24-2017 A posed model section or alternative thing for that. In the past it wasn't feasible as most model usage was either for game modding or personal admiration. However 3d printing is becoming a stronger avenue and is slated to continue to become more accessible to the public over the course of the next decade, hence I foresee more people looking for posed models to print and paint and such. Just an idea rolling in my head the other night mind you but I figured this site and community would certainly be leaps ahead of most others in how to stock and maintain such a thing as well more mindful of quality, as well of course there's no shortage of models to work from already here. RE: Icon Policy Update - iyenal - 05-05-2017 Why we can't share with some complex models their project file used for the render, so we can re-use shaders ? I think it's a good idea. Why are you posting this here? If you have a suggestion, put it in the suggestions thread (which is where I'll be moving this now). RE: Suggestions - Kosheh - 05-06-2017 I feel like I've already asked this question a million times before but it's the "Where's Music Resource?" but listen a sec just hear me out no seriously just listen I know pitching a fifth site is crazy but what if like it had MP3 files because that's a great way to legally shoot ourselves in the foot over and over again hosted soundfonts (small samples of the instruments used in those games that you'd have to arrange yourself) and sheet music (so video game cover bands could surge in popularity you could make learning your favorite instrument just a little more interesting) With soundfonts, you could make music that fits the style of the game, like our own Krusper Butter's recent remake of the Princess' Secret Slide in the SMW soundfont: so, in other words, the music resource wouldn't be a means to take money away from musicians, but rather a resource that does exactly what our other channels do: inspire those who wish to learn to make music, especially in the style of those who, well make videogames [/s]plus like seriously, how fun would a sheet music approval process be[/s] |
