RE: Ripping Questions - Magma MK-II - 08-10-2012 This is something from the game itself, not Mame. RE: Ripping Questions - Goemar - 08-10-2012 Battletoads (and a few other games) cannot be opened with the Tile Viewer in Mame. I have no idea why. I believe Sonic The Arcade Game is another example but people have some how got sprites from that (the Sonic fanbase is INSANE and I'm guessing screenshots but it might be worth asking). There's a few things you can try. First take a screenshot using MAME's screenshot function and not the "Prt Scr" key. If this also appears stretched then it's not going to be a fun ride as Mame screenshots are taken at true 1x1 ratio without filtering (well they was last time I used them). If I'm correct the screenshot you get should be far too wide. This is because Battletoads on the Arcade seems run natively at a wide angle and then gets squeezed by the game itself. This might have something to do with it having both a 2 player and a different 3 player cabinet so playing around with the dip-switches might yield a result. Why it does this, or if this is even what t does, is anyone's guess but it does mean the game is pretty much impossible to rip from. I've seen some sprites from it but the origin of them seem to be very dodgy. You can try playing around with display options until you get a 1x1 pixel ratio but I've never had any success. You could try asking the person who recently submitted Zitz's sprites but his English doesn't seem good and I also have a sneaky suspicion he won't respond because he doesn't know either. Pimple and Rash's sprites are identical to the ones used in BattleManiacs if that's any help. RE: Ripping Questions - RandomPerson78642 - 08-11-2012 Just wondering, where would a question about ripping sounds go? This may be the sprite section, but it seemed inappropriate to create a whole topic just for this. And before you think it, it's not a "howe do i ripp souns" question. I'm having some issues converting them to a recognizable format. RE: Ripping Questions - puggsoy - 08-11-2012 You should probably ask in QIT. Although before you do that, you might want to check if VGSC can do it, if you ripped it from a console game there's a fair chance it'll work. There's a linked icon in my sig. RE: Ripping Questions - Garamonde - 08-11-2012 Next time puggsoy let me answer this kind of stuff. Please post under Sound Projects (also unless you already read them recently it'd be good to read the sound submission guidelines about formats). RE: Ripping Questions - RandomPerson78642 - 08-11-2012 How have I not noticed that... Either my IQ has decreased significantly or I need new glasses. Thanks guys. I'll try puggsoy's program first and if all else fails I'll make a post in the Projects area. RE: Ripping Questions - RandomPerson78642 - 09-12-2012 Hi, me again. I opened up a game's files and found a bunch of handy .tga images, but the majority of them were in .qda format. I looked about and it seems like that extension is associated with some japanese 2-D program called Quadruple D, but I don't have more than that. Is it available to the public or just companies? Anyone know? I tried going to the webpage provided by wikipedia, but I couldn't load it, and the main site is in japanese, and the really obnoxious form where all writing is in image format and google can't translate it. It should be fairly popular, apparently it was used for a multitude of games. RE: Ripping Questions - canasniimehugh - 10-08-2012 Heya, I was wondering whether or not something like this is submittable. Seeing how it looks like an image but is actually composed of pixels. I apologize if this is redundant. :c RE: Ripping Questions - Ton - 10-08-2012 I mean... EVERYTHING is composed of pixels... RE: Ripping Questions - canasniimehugh - 10-08-2012 (10-08-2012, 11:30 PM)canasniimehugh Wrote: this is redundant. :cAlrighty then, fixed. I`ll hold on to these to play it safe RE: Ripping Questions - Garamonde - 10-09-2012 It's a 2-D graphics so yes it's acceptable. RE: Ripping Questions - Magma MK-II - 10-25-2012 One question for the uploaders: I want to submit a sheet, but said sheet have a very small set of sprites that could be considered inapropriate: These are the sprites. I want you guys opinion. If I am to remove it, i'll simply won't upload the sheet, because I don't want to submit an incomplete sheet. RE: Ripping Questions - Garamonde - 10-25-2012 TBH I don't see that as a real problem -- at that size there are none of the key details that would actually count it as porn, it'd just be kinda NSFW but nothing overly extreme IMO. RE: Ripping Questions - Davy Jones - 10-25-2012 I like your sense of humour. Or you just don't know what's already on TSR RE: Ripping Questions - Magma MK-II - 10-25-2012 No, I don't know. Care to explain? |
