Megaman was really bad in MvC2 anyway and Jill was just a member of S.T.A.R.S. It feels weird not having Megaman in but I never used him anyway, so fuck it. And New Jill will probably be cooler anyway.

They better pull a 180 the last day before release and announce Megaman, because I bet five bucks that he would be (personally, I don't care either way... well I DO care, but I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom made such a diptarded move). Then again, didn't Inafune more or less leave capcom recently? That also might be a contribution to his exclusion. But I could be thinking of someone else entirely, I'm too lazy to check before I post.

Ryota Niitsuma: I assume you’re talking about the original Mega Man. There was a Mega Man slot for this game - we had room for a character from that series. But when it came to the propriety of that character being in a fighting game, Mega Man has some problems.
If we were to adapt the original Mega Man character into a fighting game he would have to have a lot more extra moves and abilities, and that would then create a different Mega Man entirely. You couldn’t retain his original character as he is. So we looked into other Mega Mans, and decided that Zero had the best list of moves already in existence when it comes to fitting into a fighting game.
frankly i think they'd want megaman to be a nice balanced-out character like the rest of the cast, good amount of physical attacks but also a few projectiles. The downside of Megaman is that you'd have to make up half his attacks to even fit into the game - Mega Upper in MVC was enough of a stretch as is from a canonfag standpoint. To "fix" Megaman you'd have to give him all new moves and half of those would probably be weird abilities that just don't feel...Megaman. Think like a canonfag about Megaman and you'll see what I mean - Megaman in general is all about projectiles and a purely projectile-based character would be...a bit camp-whore.
Megaman was high tier in MVC. That was cool. Then in the next game he was pretty much ass in terms of usage due to such radical game mechanic changes...and the fact that due to his size and reach he just wasn't a very useful character. MVC3 isn't going to be any different; that and Zero's saber gives him extra reach, more moveset malleability and his rushdown playstyle is pretty unique to MVC. TBH, I really don't see Megaman himself fitting very well into this game either.
And if you're totally crushed and butthurt that your Volnutt skills are gonna go to waste, just play Amaterasu lol, she's pretty similar playwise...and half the reason why Megaman's not in too

I just came from a friends house who has an early copy. Games pretty sweet, most people can get into the game without pulling out there hair, and it's pretty well balanced. With that said, only 6 more days until the game is released to the general public I thought it'd be neat for me to read some of the earlier pages of the thread. Here. We. GO!

I was necroreading, this roster "leak" was posted back in April.
The Capcom side is near identical to the final build. Frank West was replaced by C. Viper.
The Marvel side has Elektra, Mr. Fantastic, Shuma-Gorath, and Emma Frost. While Shuma's showing up as DLC, the rest were replaced with MODOK, Sentinel, Storm, and Phoenix.
Just thought it was creepily similar.
