RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Chris2Balls [:B] - 09-09-2010 I'm changing my design. Trying to get out of my comfort zone :I Yeah, water, and working on a nice, saturated palette. RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Gors - 09-09-2010 scrapped the whole aurora, will start it over RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Rosencrantz - 09-09-2010 JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WAS BITCHING MY WAY OUT OF THIS blamo I'm fairly certain I just broke about four of my comfort zones while doing this and I'm not sure how I want to shade the dark parts of the clouds so I left it as is until I get some crits on this~ really, I was aiming for something a bit more abstract; I think I nailed this. Also my dithering job didn't suck this time!!! I'm actually really happy about this~ also 101 32 11 colors. I can probably trim down the number of colors a little more, but I was aiming for 11~ *hopefully* I can submit the final piece by tomorrow. I just need to extend the thing vertically since it's about two pixels short of the minimum, but besides that I just want to get some comments and crits before I can finally say "I'm done" RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Alpha Six - 09-09-2010 There are some serious readability issues going on in here. RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Rosencrantz - 09-09-2010 Yeah, that was actually one of the things I was having difficulty with I'm going to play around with it a bit more and try to make everything a bit easier to see. But I'm not sure if it's just the palette itself or if I need to redraw or at least reshade most of it :/ I'll probably do both anyway, haha but I'll try to fix it all up before I submit it RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Vic - 09-09-2010 it's those weird star thingies that cause most of the readability issues they're all over the place and I honestly have no idea what purpose they serve right now. RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Rosencrantz - 09-09-2010 They were meant to be people but apparently I didn't pull that off properly if that wasn't obvious !! Oh well; I'll scrap that, since they didn't turn out the way I wanted them to : ( RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Ninspriterx - 09-09-2010 Here's my simpler one I still don't have the energy for this. RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Solink - 09-09-2010 ~Hello gentlemen!~ Still WIP obliviously I'm quite happy of this so far :] RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - GaryASPG - 09-10-2010 started over. or not. i dont even know anymore. RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - DadNier - 09-10-2010 that looks a lot better than the one I saw on skype; the teal outline and brigher colors on the foreground draw your eye to it and it creates a more interesting contrast between foreground and background RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - GrooveMan.exe - 09-10-2010 (09-09-2010, 08:49 PM)Rosencrantz Wrote: They were meant to be people Actually it's pretty clear that they're people imo. It's just that there are a few too many, and too many abstract blobs in between. Maybe make the stars that aren't people a darker shade, so they don't stand out as mucvh. RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Gors - 09-10-2010 testing In case I'm not happy with the aurora yet RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Badassbill - 09-10-2010 Nice technique, but the original still works better. RE: TUGS - Round 1 - Intermediate WIP Thread - Gors - 09-10-2010 I'll try fusing this technique with the older, then I like the visual effect of this one and the wavyness of the first |
