EDIT: If you're creating a battle system like Earthbound/Mother3, it might be possible to put the commands under what people normally have under PSI? For example, instead of having PSI or magic in that particular tab, you have 5 abilites which would be randomly selected from a set 15-20 that shuffle every turn(explained below). If you have "Eat", "Inspect", "Throw", "Drink", and "Caress" as the five random abilites for one turn, when you pick one, it then pulls up the inventory to select an item for use. What I was thinking with the system is that I have other options for items. As in, take a pebble for example. While most people have the option "use" which can liken to "throw", I would have "Throw", "Distract", "Inhale", "Sniff", and "Trade". Generally, players have one option for an item, while Okko/Oks/needsaname has 5, but only three actually do something. "Throw" would work like the others--the pebble is thrown at an enemy. "Distract" Can be something for projectiles--the object is thrown near an enemy, but statwise it can either lower the opponent's accuracy or distract them from attacking for a few turns (if it works). "Trade" Would switch the item with any item the enemy might be holding. If the enemy has a cookie, Ocko (maybe?) switches items--he has the cookie, which restores health/etc and the enemy has the pebble which he is free to then use. The other two would be joke options that prompt dialog like "This familiar odor reminds you of your childhood", which means it does nothing. Or, it can hurt you as punishment (?). Maybe do like -1 for inhaling the rock or something. The gimmick would be having much more versatility with items rather than having exclusive items, but they don't always work in your favor 100% of the time. The goal is to experiment and see what each command does! I could probably generate 15-20 possible commands and for every turn, 5 options are randomly selected for every item. Again, no clue if this can be programmed, but I think this would be really neat^^ RE: TSRpg - Hiynastrike - 05-06-2013 like what Baegal said maybe you could have an "Observe" option so for example the pebble could be "upon further inspection, this pebble looks like Abraham Lincoln" or maybe you can "Argue" about how the pebble is better then the item the enemy is holding which is kinda like "Trade" RE: TSRpg - Kami - 05-06-2013 VirtualBoy since the poll says game maker, if you go that route I could do a little battle engine and overworld engine skeleton for you(I'm a bit busy so I can't do heavy programming on it) RE: TSRpg - Sengir - 05-06-2013 I think RPGMaker will work just fine for this. RE: TSRpg - Virtuaboy123 - 05-06-2013 Actually I'm willing to try game maker as well(I'll just use both). If you have an engine i'll try it. also I was working on the map I kind of used the map from PKM TCG because i always thought it was the best gbc map. also updated starman (stil working on it) RE: TSRpg - Chaoxys - 05-07-2013 I tried making an OW sprite of my character but I'm literally one color away form being able to do it. I need gray, blue, and yellow at least. I've tried just using fray and blue but it looked awkward, mainly because his eyes. Oh well, I'll try something else later and see if I can't get it to work out. RE: TSRpg - Virtuaboy123 - 05-07-2013 Use white for the eyes, I'll think of something walkies ( I have Jetters and Tellis finished here's a preview) I'll post a blank skin of the walk cycle for those who want to do it themselves also a start screen/menu screen still working out the kinks Aw why not one more thing I edited your onigiri's Kami. and finished starman edit RE: TSRpg - Ton - 05-08-2013 There is a distinct lack of Ton in this topic. RE: TSRpg - Previous - 05-08-2013 Here you go one ton. (just kidding) RE: TSRpg - Gors - 05-08-2013 Kami Wrote:(05-06-2013, 08:52 AM)Gorsalami Wrote: thanks for making me crave for yaki onigiris at workI'm Making you suffer the cravings of yummy onigiris~ ;----; also suggestion for gilbert's sprite sure i had to be a prick by making him impossible to render prefectly in 8-bit.. I had to make the white shirt green, but otherwise, no compromises. RE: TSRpg - NICKtendo DS - 05-08-2013 I wanted to contribute in some form, but didn't feel like making the Neko overworld sprites (yet). Have a Viridian Dragon boss (or enemy if you want) instead! His attacks are Fire Spit, Lava Hurl and Strawberry Regurgitate. The first 2 attacks are standard fire-based attacks, but the third will increase the target's attack power. All 3 attacks, along with Viridian Dragon, appear in Princess Fantasy Catventure. The Dragon is special as it has been a staple for the Bouncy Cat games (Balloon Dragon in BC1 and Peridot Dragon in BCMao). I will love you forever if you can make the game say along the lines of "The second-hand strawberry tastes oddly delicious!" Oh, feel free to edit or reject by the way. I'm a little rusty as it has been a while since I've sprited.
