RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Koopaul - 11-06-2013 I do want different type sets but I don't want to force it on a Pokemon. But I guess ultimately its up to you guys. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - einstein95 - 11-06-2013 That glitch Pokemon makes me think of the name Bagu for some Zelda II-related reason. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - NICKtendo DS - 11-06-2013 Lykerth (Image link) Rotting Pokémon Type: Ghost/ Ground Ability: Sap Sipper Hidden Ability: Mummy Born from the remains of a king casting a curse upon himself to live forever. It lies buried deep underground, feasting upon the roots and soil, leaving the land rotten and infertile. It is said to rise above the ground when the moon is full and colored vivid red. Based mainly on the Lich, with elements of vampires, zombies, skeletons and buried corpses. The "rotting the earth" part is inspired by the Lich from Final Fantasy 1. The name Lykerth is derived from a corruption of "lijk", which is Dutch for "corpse", and "earth". He always has one hand (his left) visible. EDIT: Viscera (Image link) Oil Pokémon Type: Grass/ Poison Ability 1: Hydration Ability 2: Sticky Hold Hidden Ability: Gooey It secretes a pleasant smelling, gooey substance that is both very sticky and poisonous. However, it's a popular ingredient for beauty products. It whips around the sticky slime with precision. It catches the bugs it eats this way. The giant leafs are plump, filled with membranes that produces its slime. The slime also keeps it cool in the blazing desert. Based on Aloe Vera. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Chaoxys - 11-08-2013 I have 2 suggestions for the people section. The first one is that bee based off of a scribe. The second is a miner that could be focused around the concepts of jewels or rare minerals (maybe a few variations based on which mineral it is focused around?) that could be ground/steel. Another idea is a Uranium pokemon. My idea is that it would be Poison/Steel type. The main part of it's body would be a round, hollow metallic ball (or another shape, whatever works) with a glowing source inside of it that it keeps sealed up (representing radiation or something, idk). EDIT- Oh, and one last idea I had, for the cutesy legendary, what about something with dreams? Not like Darkria who gives you nightmares, but an actual living pokemon that lives within dreams, very rarely exiting into the real world. Idk, something like that seems like it would have lots of design potential, plus it seems fitting for something that would be considered mythical. You have dozens of people claiming to see the same creature within their dreams, but you have no way of proving it is anything more than a dream. It's overall design could be based on a dream catcher maybe, being something like psychic/fairy, or pure psychic. That or maybe it can be psychic/ground and based on the sandman. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - mutantyoshi - 11-08-2013 (11-06-2013, 01:53 AM)Koopaul Wrote: ALso I'm not sure why the Ram has to evolve into a chimera. I thought we had the Manticore as a separate Pokemon. We could do it like how it is done in God of War: Ascension: the Manticore: http://i.i.cbsi.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2013/02/06/gowascesnsion_screens_manticore3_720_620x350.jpg the Chimera: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101202202942/godofwar/images/a/a3/Chim%C3%A8re_GOW_III.jpg As you can see, the manticore retains more of a arachnid body type, while you see the chimera show more fur. So we could essentially make them different (not just type), but still show the characteristics that make that creature known. And technically, there are many types of Chimeras also. So we could just make our own. EDIT: I thought of another pokemon based on profession. Why not a rock star (preferably a guitarist)? it would be electric type, and we could give it features (paying homages) of like Angus Young (AC/DC) or John Lennon (Beatles). Then have it evolve with a dark stone to make heavy metal, we could base it off of Kirk Hammett (Metallica), or Dave Mustaine (Megadeth). and it would be Electric/Dark type. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Koopaul - 11-09-2013 I guess my question would be, why does it have to be a Chimera? I feel if one starter evolved into a mishmash of animals the other starters would have to do something comparably the same. Anyway I think I've added all the new suggestions to the front page. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - mutantyoshi - 11-09-2013 (11-09-2013, 03:22 AM)Koopaul Wrote: I guess my question would be, why does it have to be a Chimera? I feel if one starter evolved into a mishmash of animals the other starters would have to do something comparably the same. When you put it that way, that does make sense. Anyway, I forgot to add to the Kiwi for it's evolutions. I think that using the Kiwi as the starter, then the first evolution would be the Emu, then the final could be a Cassowary. All are flightless birds from Oceana (Australia and New Zealand). RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Koopaul - 11-09-2013 The Kiwi is a close relative of the Emu. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. We need to hear more Grass starter suggestions then vote on which one we'll use. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Chaoxys - 11-09-2013 I have an alt idea for the grass starter. I'm thinking something based on puff mushrooms. I haven't thought of the specifics past that, but I'm sure there would be some potential with that concept alone. I was sort of thinking something based on the armadillo with it but idk, that was just a thought. Also, if we do a chimera pokemon, I'm thinking it could be it's own stand alone pokemon. We could probably make it's body/head unique, but it's tail, arms, and legs (and wings?) could be heavily influenced from other pokemon. Maybe we could even have a few variations for fun. Think of it, this big pokemon with a Seviper tail, Ursaring arms, and Druddigon legs. Maybe not based 100% on their original designs, but obviously influenced by them. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Koopaul - 11-09-2013 See that would be better. I'll add the Chimera to the list. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Zadaben - 11-09-2013 Pokemon can be more than one animal at once you know. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Koopaul - 11-10-2013 It's true but they usually have a reason to be more than one animal. You can't just mix-up any critter, it's gotta make sense. Somewhat. I kinda want to make the best PokeDex we can. Even Game Freak can make some less desirable things, "What? Why did Dewott evolve into THAT?" I want to see if we can avoid some of those weird off-putting things in our PokeDex. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - NICKtendo DS - 11-10-2013 Ehh, this is just my opinion, but thinking we can make a better Pokedex than Game Freak is ridiculous. I think it's only worse to avoid making something like Samurott. What makes the official Pokedex great is that it's full of everything: stuff that make sense and don't, pretty things, cute things, cool things, hideous things. It's stupid to avoid the ugly to make a better Pokedex. In fact, it wouldn't be a Pokedex without one or two abominations. RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Chaoxys - 11-10-2013 Also Samurott is awesome. It's a different direction but their logic was sound if you read up on it (I believe they even explained it in an interview). |
