The tech level in the series is actually pretty high (once you handwave power source problems with magic crystals 'n shit, a lot of tech suddenly becomes very achievable), but no one feels the need to use it much. Like Tazmilly Village in Mother 3.

How about a little reading comprehension?

Well, regardless of whether they're plausible, someone still might feel like they're out of place. Just because you post reasoning otherwise doesn't mean everyone's just going to snap into your point of view. Trains in Zelda still don't sit right with me. Very Sad

Whether you like them or not is your own opinion, but saying they don't 'belong' in the Zelda series is wrong since they already have that technology applied. They belong just fine; they just haven't introduced them until now.

I agree with this.

WARNING: OOT COMPARISON INCOMING
OOT had probably the top technology level of what should be in a zelda game.

It had medieval elements which justified link having a sword, yet enough technology (hookshot, etc) to give it a bit of a modern flair.

WW had cannons, which means that there should have been guns somewhere. (Yes, I realize cannons existed in medieval times, but still)
Why didn't link fight with guns?

The "upper level" technology sort of takes away from the game's overall feeling, yanno?

RE: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks announced for the DS - GrooveMan.exe - 09-07-2009

Oh god that's bullshit. You're discounting inclusions in canon because of what you liked in OOT more? How is that not retarded?

'Sides, while Spirit Tracks Link isn't the same as Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass Link, he'd be in a similar time period. So yeah; as you've said yourself, the technology for this kind of thing is already there, and no one's suspension of disbelief is shattered.

Why are we even arguing about this again?

Alright, I agree with you that stating opinion as fact is a stupid thing to do.

because trains and swords do not mix

HURRRRR

In fact, general fantasy works disagree with you. Swords appear in fantasy works of every goddamn technology level. You're just pulling things out of your ass.

i'm pretty sure he wasn't being srs, groove
plus trains appeared on

and this anime is pretty spot-on on japanese history

RE: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks announced for the DS - Woppet* - 09-08-2009

I remember Shigeru Miyamoto saying he wanted to make a Zelda game in space, where Link flies from planet to planet on fucking rocketship called the epona7.

but that manga/anime is set in the late 1800's where trains were available.\
but on the note with zelda, i think if there are to be trains, maybe in stead of a bow and arrow he could have a musket or something along that line.

RE: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks announced for the DS - triptych - 09-08-2009

the fuck are you talking about

trains make more sense than the shit we had in tp

RE: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks announced for the DS - PrettyNier - 09-08-2009

Groove stop getting your panties in a knot; they have a valid point, that stylistically speaking trains - at the very least the wya they're being utilized here - seem a little much.
