It sucks for me because I don't own a DS. I would actually try the newest game because they look quite good (And badly wanted HeartGold)
For people who don't have a DS, there is an alternative : An online Pokemon Battle. It works identical from the original games and it's quite good !

Sign up on a server (preferably the smogon official server, or an empty server where you won't have to worry about lag playing against other people here), go to the find tab, load your team, and press find match. Then you'll play against someone random. If you want to challenge a specific person, right click their user name and hit challenge, it should be easy from there.

I lost Gyarados and Snorlax to carelessness, but the Lapras moveset was unexpected and original, good match, really fun. I'll have to watch out for Whirlpool and Perish Song again.

Jar and i created a UU (underused) team once and toppled over some OU (overused) teams one time it was hela fun : - ) in fact i think i iwll get on MSN now and we can do it again

EDIT: I wanna see this UU team actually (but its not surprising that it would topple over OU teams, since the whole tier is based on usage, many UU pokemon are very effective), would you mind having a match with me Tbsp?
