RE: just something i'm working on.. - zye1984 - 05-14-2014 i'm trying to keep the basic shape of the light on her the same as the original sprite, but make it make more sense at this size. it is a little weird though. and yeah, viper, i think the size of this prevents me from doing too much on the visor; it's one of those where you take the pixel away it's too short, put it back and it's too thick. though, i'd think her heard would be lifted a little here, making the visor seem less angled...maybe. /hopeful justification for error. Unless you're basing it off of a different iteration of Samus. RE: just something i'm working on.. - Vipershark - 05-14-2014 That's how it looks on the official sprite and he hasn't gotten there yet. RE: just something i'm working on.. - zye1984 - 05-15-2014 any advice on the hand? ugh. hands. cant draw without them, but its hard as hell to draw them with them. I tried some edits on the shiny part and her visor too. Bas gave me how to go about the visor, it wasn't too hard. and about her chest, seems she needs a boob lift on the official sprite, doesn't she? = p though then again, she's sorta bending forward, unlike her smash bros run-like-a-brick-wall way of running. RE: just something i'm working on.. - zye1984 - 05-15-2014 i feel i took a LOT off her arm..it was fat to begin with, but i hope i didn't take too much off. i kept shadowing and undoing it and forgot about where it used to be after i got the shadow off. X_x RE: just something i'm working on.. - zye1984 - 05-16-2014 working on the hardest part; the cannon..most of it is going to be completely new due to there being NO detail on the official sprite and its awkward angle. oi. RE: just something i'm working on.. - Kelvin - 05-16-2014 I think you should make the cannon longer. With it that short, it looks like her arm would have to be amputated for it to fit, so I say take a little artistic license and make it more believable. RE: just something i'm working on.. - E-Man - 05-16-2014 Basically, what Midi said; however, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a bit of Metroid media that claimed that her arm was amputated anyway? Don't quote me on this because I haven't been keeping up with the Metroid series compared to other game series. RE: just something i'm working on.. - zye1984 - 05-16-2014 so i am trying graphics gale..there is no dropper tool? how the hell am i supposed to quickly pick up a color i want to use that's already in use? why get rid of a basic function that every paint program has? as for the arm cannon, i think the elbow is supposed to be angled toward the viewer to explain the shortness, but i'm not sure. EDIT: ah, shiznit, it's going the other direction, the cannon barrel is supposed to be slightly angled toward the viewer, that'd make more sense. RE: just something i'm working on.. - Sevenstitch - 05-16-2014 uh right click is the pick color option in graphics gale you are literally touching it RE: just something i'm working on.. - zye1984 - 05-17-2014 (05-16-2014, 09:41 AM)E-Man Wrote: Basically, what Midi said; however, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a bit of Metroid media that claimed that her arm was amputated anyway? Don't quote me on this because I haven't been keeping up with the Metroid series compared to other game series. it certainly looks like it from this old pic, doesn't it? It doesn't even look like a suit, just looks like a robot O-o but officially, she still has her arm. i just have to angle it the right way here to make it look right, and making a skewed circle for the barrel end at that angle is rather difficult at this size. No wonder it looks odd on the official sprite as well. as for Graphics Gale, thanks sevenstitch, i'm not sure how i was supposed to figure that out without randomly trying buttons. is there a user guide somewhere? RE: just something i'm working on.. - Vipershark - 05-17-2014 I think Prime (or something? not sure) confirms that her arm is actually inside the cannon. I'm pretty sure the X-Ray visor in particular shows her hand if you try to look at her shooting arm. Plus it doesn't make much sense that she can become Zero Suit and still have a regular arm if it's cut off in the Power Suit. RE: just something i'm working on.. - E-Man - 05-17-2014 Well, even if Samus' arm was amputated, a logical theory as to why Samus would end up having both her arms in later games would be either a prosthetic arm or advance cloning technology that recreated it. With that said, though, I can believe that Samus never lost her arm in the first place and the comic that I gotten a bit of my Metroid canon from must have had its author read that inaccurate fact from a Nintendo Power comic or something. I'd try to keep the breastplate within the boundaries of the character design (this is probably the breast post I've made in some time) RE: just something i'm working on.. - Sevenstitch - 05-17-2014 for more help on graphicsgale open the contents tab and click "help" alternatively, press f1 while in the program the help file outlines pretty much every basic function Graphicsgale is a great program, and is worth the learning curve, which in my opinion is much smaller than other pixel art program alteratives |
