RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 01-06-2011 A tip for you for making your speed drawings 'count': Draw from a reference, draw really quickly and then compare to the reference and see where you went wrong with proportions. Draw it again, fixing your errors. Do this a few times for each reference / pose of your model (if you can get a model :V ) Try to really really see the real shapes in front of you and don't think about style. I'm still seeing kind of the waifish noodly look that's in your usual drawings - that's cool and all when it's a conscious choice, but if you're doing it just because you can't approach a drawing any other way, that's a problem. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Alpha Six - 01-06-2011 Yeah, it's intentional. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 01-06-2011 But for studies you don't want to be stylising too heavily. The further removed your studies are from the source material, the greater your degree of error. You have to understand why and how other artists reduce real life into the symbols they use, and the only way to do that is to study real life and try to keep it true to life~ Read these: Understanding your style- 1 Understanding your style- 2 Common artistic 'anti-patterns' RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 01-06-2011 HEY HAVE SOME STUFF. Gonna redraw this all fancy-like. Metaru's neck is stupid, I know. Nubby sword, overly long far leg and missing boot cuff notwithstanding - anything on this that needs fixing before I attempt to ink it? Also yeah it's pretty much just a redraw of that pokemon drawing I did last year. Eat a fuq. lastly andtheniwassingle.jpg RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Gors - 01-06-2011 I'm ganon please I'M GANON RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 01-06-2011 I was wondering who could be Ganon actually I mean, Metaru's the only one with Ganondorf's manly sideburns BUT WE CAN DO THIS. If I draw another thing :V RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Alpha Six - 01-06-2011 (01-06-2011, 12:09 PM)Tachikoma Wrote: But for studies you don't want to be stylising too heavily. This is more or less for personal experimentation. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 01-06-2011 Meh, fair enough then. I'm being catty I know, but I've yet to see any real indication that you get this shit, and I tend to assume PEOPLE ARE NOOBS. I'm used to places where you have to browbeat people into doing shit :V RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Helmo - 01-06-2011 A tapir is like a horse they're related but with even more ridicoulous genitalia draw me with like a horse mask over my nose or something it will be cute im totally epona eeeee RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Lexou Duck - 01-06-2011 This was supposed to be Stuart Zender, Jamiroquai's bassist. I fucked up. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Drinks - 01-06-2011 Doodled this today during some downtime at school needed to draw something silly. Those tutorials are incredibly helpful btw RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - ~DrakoRero~ - 01-06-2011 It's my Gunstar, Purple, in a swimsuit :I. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Lexou Duck - 01-07-2011 Well, I retook a shot at Stuart Zender generic face, this time going with a younger look. Waaay younger. I think it kinda looks like him, please criticize. Also, here's a viking : RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - des - 01-07-2011 (01-06-2011, 12:09 PM)Tachikoma Wrote: Read these: aaa these were a great read im actually porgressing through loomis right now and i love how much im improving RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 01-07-2011 Loomis is brilliant for learning about depth and form, but some of his anatomy is pretty "eeehh", because he usually draws pretty heavily idealised figures. That said, if you do enough real life drawing, it's not exactly going to hinder you. I need to start working through his books again, I've completely forgotten how to structure the head and I'm developing Anime Longface, like in that tutorial. I mean, I kinda like drawing long faces, but a lot of the time I'm doing it completely unthinkingly, which isn't cool at all X: |
