Ack, there goes my rep point. Look, I apologize for saying that. I had already realized that it sounded a bit rude and was going to edit, but 20 people already posted between now and then, so, meh.

Just fix the fireball, the goomba bouncing, and add in variable jumping (seriously, it does help gameplay). And at least try to fix the collision engine. This is still a really good start.

Hey, when Luigi or Mario kills a Goomba e go to the floor like a rocket (Very fast)
The game needs a timer ^^
When you have to choose something on menu, you have to press down, right and up to go for the top right icon (cheats) same thing for left
And anothe one, i can't move the game window.

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - Phantom Killah - 02-14-2009

Awesome
I actually like the quick drop after Goomba hit.

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - andrio - 02-14-2009

The quick drop isn't bad, if it was slowed down just a little, i'd be happy with it.

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - tsr moderation staff - 02-14-2009

As I said before, I think it would be really cool if it happened only when there was a goomba underneath you.

Already made those poses AND a full swimming animation, it's just that i'm too lazy to put them up Tongue
I'll put them up later today if i remember to.

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - Heinze - 02-15-2009

The game is good, i agree, but i found another, i can kill goombas when I walk...

How can you do a stylized bar like you did?

Definitely this. Either that, or not at all.

I like the idea of slowing it down a bit too. Maybe even have it so it only happens when you press a button (like down). Idk. I would actually find it easier (read: safer) to combo without it.

And pleeeeeease make Mario jump (even a little) higher when he's moving. I wouldn't feel so unsafe about jumping pits if he did. ; _ ; I could give you pseudo-code if you want.

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - ChaosBlazeX - 02-16-2009

I havn't added anything at all to it for the past few days, as I said; I was taking a short break, but thank you to everyone who has notified me with glitches/potential improvements etc.. Big Grin

I'm getting to work with the collision issue right now of which if you collide into a wall whilst jumping, you can no longer move left or right. I've noticed a number of you picked up on this, but alot of my pals hadn't. I suppose people play the game differently and pick up on different things, so cheers y'all. Shy
The fireball has now been adjusted, and I think you guys will like it this time around, ahaha. Cool The whole Goomba jumping thing will have to be changed since a number of you picked up on it, but I thought it was kinda cool. Tongue I'm considering doing it as Tuna Unleashed suggested.

It's not my main priority on the list, but I may add variable jumping sometime soon, just for you guys with the different playstyle. Ninja

and GadgetTR; I reaally see no point in this, yes it's in the real Mario games, but it's fine in this game. Tongue I'm trying to make this game as forgiving as possible, but I see no need to do this. Even so, I may consider it.

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - andrio - 02-17-2009

I'm starting to think the window is too small. I would like to be able to see more, vertical-wise mostly.
I've made another window, but, you don't have to do it now. Work on the bugs. Then just convert everything to this size, or, however you do it. I know it was hard doing the new window before, but, this is the final time, i swear.

I've always wanted Mario to jump like Gadget said. Like, when you hold shift, he jumps. When you let go, he slows down, and starts falling. But limit it to about, say, beside the bricks at the very start (he can't get onto them while standing, but right next to them). But when he runs and jumps, he can get ontop of them.

Eeek. Sorry Andrio, screw that. Cry
I've kinda made a way around your situation though, well, horizontally.. In the Options Menu I've added two versions of "Camera Control" for the levels. The first version is the normal state (as seen in the Demo's) and the second version will make the camera smoothly scroll forward in the direction that Mario/Luigi is looking, thus seeing further. Shy Sorry Andrio, hope you understand, I just.. can't be bothered with that again. Gonna Puke lol. Any bits in the game that will require a vertical view, will force the camera to remain higher that Mario anyway, if that helps. Very Sad

.. and good news to most, the collision error of not jumping over bricks whilst next to them has been fixed! Tongue I've also fixed the Goomba stomp, fireball bounce, and added a new Ranking system thus far. Mwhaha. Ninja

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - Kirbyfan - 02-17-2009

When's the next demo?

And I think I might have asked this before, but since I'm not programming, then can I help with spriting and/or ideas?

RE: Project: Superb Mario Bros (!Flash Programmer Wanted!) - Heinze - 02-17-2009

Hm... Help...
I want to help too...
I think 4 is better than 2
But i don't know =p
What do you think?

That sounds good Smile It's ok, perfectly understandable.

@Kirbyfan: Like I said before, YES!, you can help. I honestly don't mind what you do, since i was gonna be spriting everything anyways.
If you like doing enemies, you can go ahead and do these
-Koopas
-Lakitus & Spinies
-Bullet Bills + those cannons

I don't have much more that would need to be sprited as of now, but yeh. Do some of them if you want.

@ChaozBlaze (again): Umm, just a few things
-I hate that line below the window bar. A lot. :/ Take it out, so it doesn't look so small. Maybe that was why i wanted the window bigger. Tongue
-If you can, try & speed up the load times. I dunno if its possible, but yeh. Unsure

Oh, i made a demo of the window size that i wanted
[Image: f_windowdemom_61dd534.png] [Image: f_windowrealm_99699e8.png]
It isn't as much bigger to the one we have now, but it looks alot better, i reckon.

The next demo won't be out for quite a while from now, well, once I've sorted out the last of the bugs, and I at least finish the second level or something, then I'll release the next one. x3

.. and yeah!! If you can, can you work on;
- Mario/Luigi dieing sprites? (as they fall off the bottom of the screen when they die).
- Mario/Luigi end level poses? (the poses can both be different, it'll make it better, imo. x3)
- aaand bassically what Andrio suggested if you can. Wink

Oh, and Andrio, could you begin sprite sheets for the second level now? Big Grin

QQ: What screen sizes do most of you guys use??
