RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Gussprint - 01-24-2013 Sure, let's go with that. Anyway... Mission 4 (Area 1 - Beachside) [Metal Slug Advance] We now begin Mission 4, and already I'm having bad feelings all over. The level maps are getting really huge! ...Well, maybe you'd think otherwise looking at this sheet(It's animated, but nothing too bad), but the moment you see Area 2... Yup. Still, compared to the Dungeon mission, that's NOTHING. Trust me on this. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - RandomPerson78642 - 01-24-2013 I'm kind of glad that you took this project off my hands, because there's no way in heck I'd be able to rip that. (shut up, my title only applies to metal slug 6) RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Garamonde - 02-03-2013 yea so I merged the sections and fixed the game icon etc. and uploaded that. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Gussprint - 02-03-2013 I've seen enough footage of MSXX to know what they've added/changed(Well, most of it anyway), so if you need help I'm ready to throw a list. Anyways, I've got one update to submit here, so let's get on to it. <-- "Remember me?" You may remember that, when I first ripped this, I've skipped the core projectile's hit SFX. Mainly because the tile placement nearly drove me (Even more)insane. Well, I've fixed that a few days ago, and about time too, might I add. Now the sheet includes the projectile's hit SFX(Well, one of them at least) after who knows how long. And that's it for now. I'll see you guys back when I get that Mission 4-2 rip finished... ...But before I go, I have something to ask. I wish to go back in familiar territory, and maybe fix some of my old MS rips. Since I don't think I can run Kawaks without McAfee kicking in, I'll have to look for a suitable replacement. What do you guys suggest? RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Garamonde - 02-03-2013 would MAME work? I hear the latest version's tile viewer works now. also updated. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Magma MK-II - 02-04-2013 TileViewer never works for Neo-Geo games. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Garamonde - 02-04-2013 ...oh, WinKawaks is a NeoGeo emulator too? I need to get into ripping this kind of stuff because I feel kind of left behind on everything. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Gussprint - 02-04-2013 Disregard what I just said earlier, folks. Turns out I can now fire up Kawaks with no problems whatsoever. So what happened here is, I went and DL'd the emulator on a whim out of sheer curiosity, and McAfee hasn't once stuck its digital hiney in. Scanned the EXE file, and it came clean. Took it on a few test cruises, no abrupt interruptions at all. ...Not gonna lie, I'm actually relieved and baffled at the same time. Either way, looks like I'm back in the biz, baby! And I think I know just with what to start... (Also, flippin' tile viewers, how do they work.) RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Gussprint - 02-08-2013 *COMMUNICATION LINE OPEN* This just in, folks! Gussprint's just made a tile rip from a NEOGEO game!! And about time too, if ya ask me. More on this as it happens. *COMMUNICATION LINE CLOSED* ...Great, now SHE can infiltrate my channel too. Awesome. Anyway, yes, there's a "new" rip coming up to tide you over until I finish that Mission 4-2 rip. And by "new" I mean "long overdue for an update". Rebel Astro [Metal Slug 3] <-- Cue me some "Space Boy"*, ze~ Surprised? I've thought to re-do my old rip of this thing, since it was... incomplete, to say the least. Nevermind that I totally skipped the Slug Charge sprites back then. But here's the punchline... this is a tile rip! Yup, finally figured how to get stuff from Kawaks' tile viewer... which begs the question: Why didn't I use the flippin' Print Screen button before? By the way, I've changed the first post a bit, so that it's less bloated. Nothing else to add. Have fun! *From "Initial D". 'Nuff said. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Garamonde - 02-09-2013 updated. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Gussprint - 02-17-2013 And it's time for some new content. Today's menu includes a background rip and another updated sheet, so let's go for it. Mission 4 (Area 2: Mountainside) [Metal Slug Advance] Told ya they're getting huge. Real huge. Had to work my way with getting the level map this time around, since some points you can't just reach with a few jumps. Also edited in a few points. And that's the new stuff. For the updates, we have... Weapon SFX [Metal Slug series] <-- THIS again? (And yes, I pinched the icon from the site.) Yup, this again. Now that I cracked the tile viewer's "code", I figured I'd update this with a few things. 1. Shotgun: First up, I'd like to thank esreveR for bringing this to my attention. But yeah, there's a completely diiferent set of Shotgun SFX in MS1's tiles, right next to the regular set. Leftover in MSX, which is where I got the tiles while looking for the Keesi's. It goes without saying that they're unused. Palette's probably not the right one, either. 2. Thunder Cloud: HOLY @#%!! NEW WEAPONS! *Ahem* Figured I'd include the MS3-exclusive weapons as well. And THIS is the primary reason why I got all of this from the tile viewer. Good luck getting all of its sprites via snapshots, son. 3. Mobile Satellite: Only thing to note is the swirling smoke ripped from MS7. Other than that, this one's also in Metal Slug XX. 4. Armor Piercer: Heh, why not? Also includes an unused, slimmer variant of the Metal Slug's cannon shell, which I recolored with the A.P. pick-up's colors. Doesn't look half-bad, to be honest. And that's it for the day. Nothing much left for me to say, so I'll just leave you guys with the sheets. Have fun! Nice rips like always Gussman. Working with Kawaks' tile viewer is actually really easy. Here's how I did it: 1. Fire Kawaks up and pick the game of your choice. 2. Click on "Video", select "Set Background Color" and pick the color of your choice(Preferably green or purple). It'll be an eyesore for the ages, but at least the sprites will be safe. 3. Click on "Tools" and select "Tileviewer". 4. Once you've skimmed through and found what you're looking for, press the Print Screen button on your keyboard. 5. Fire up the image editing software of your choice(In my case, good ol' Paint). 6. ?????? 7. PROFIT!! And of course, like the clod that I am, I've only NOW begun to exploit all of this. Go me. RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Ton - 02-19-2013 Does the weapons sheet go in ALL the MS games? RE: Gussprint's Submissions - Take III - Gussprint - 02-19-2013 (02-19-2013, 11:25 AM)Tonberry2k Wrote: Does the weapons sheet go in ALL the MS games? Well, it is a compilation sheet. The LASER Gun first appeared in MS2, and the rest of the weapons(Along with the "Pulse" ones) appeared with every subsequent installment from MSX/MS3 onwards. Also forgot to mention back there, but the Iron Lizard was updated too. The "Big" versions are also used as bombs for some Slugnoid units, with a different palette. Said palette is now included in the sheet, but you probably noticed that by now. |
