RE: TSR PokeDex Project - mutantyoshi - 04-27-2011 I know, just giving imput I do think it would be nice to have at least one girl warrior, sine women are now able to become troops. When I think of Rock Paper Scissors, I also think of thumb wars, and arm wrestling, these games are based on "war", so warriors seems to be the better fit to me. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - mutantyoshi - 04-27-2011 ...I like that idea a lot more. So should the Lizard's types be... Orange-Fire/Fighting Blue-Water/Fighting Yellow-Electric/Fighting What I stated before about the warrior thing, I do believe Koopaul made that idea up, and I liked it a lot better than the muses (they didn't make sence to me). RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-27-2011 orange (rock)=rock blue(scissors)=ground yellow(paper)=fighting maybe? adding secondary types gets pretty complicated, especially if you use elementals. possible names: utajan utaken utapon ("jan ken pon" means rock paper scissors, uta is from uta stansburiana, the latin name for the side-blotched lizard) i know, they sound silly RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Wes - 04-27-2011 Well if we want them to be a true rock-paper-scissors style group, each one needs to be strong against one and weak to another. So their types should reflect that. Fighting/Rock/Flying works best for this IMO. You would think that Scissors might be steel, but Rock (rock) beats Scissors (steel) while steel type is strong against rock type. This is only if we want Rock to be rock type though. If the Rock was ground type, then scissors could be steel and paper could be ice. But having the rock be anything other than rock type doesn't work for me. So Rock being rock, then flying scissors and fighting paper. I also think they should be just the single type. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-27-2011 thanks for that suggestion; i was trying to work out which combination worked better this morning/afternoon, but i think you're the better judge as you've played more pokémon than i have (i was helped by bulbapedia and i've only played a bit of pokémon red). i'll see if i can draw any designs. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Koopaul - 04-28-2011 Wes... That was what I was suggesting since the beginning. (12-08-2010, 11:04 PM)Koopaul Wrote: Okay I was think about Rock, Paper, Scissors and thought it would be neat to incorporate that into the trio. (01-16-2011, 09:29 PM)Koopaul Wrote: Finally here's a concept of the Paper Crane Pokemon for one of the legendary trios I was talking about earlier. It's just a concept so it doesn't look really good. But yeah I was thinking maybe an armored spirit design would be interesting. I'll be sketching up something new. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Wes - 04-28-2011 Yeah I know Koopaul, but not everyone has followed this topic since the beginning and I doubt those people sifted through the 80+ pages of the topic. So I felt it needed repeating. Sorry if it seems as though I were stealing your idea. One thing about that crane is that I feel its odd to have him have legs like that with the wings (unless all 3 of them are quadrupedal with wings). Because if Paper is going to be fighting type, it shouldn't have wings. I would suggest different body types for the trio (my biggest problem with say, the Gen V flying trio is that they ALL have the same body build). If Scissors were based off of a bird for flying type, Paper could have a bipedal stance like some sort of martial artist (or warrior) and then rock would be quadrupedal (it'd literally be more down to earth than the others). But all three would have some sort of motif going on, like the shield on your crane. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - KP Shadow - 04-28-2011 I feel that that type combo doesn't fit the trio that well, I had a better idea, which would actually work: Rock - Rock Paper - Grass (since paper is made from wood pulp) Scissors - Ice ("Cold Steel" is the name of a company that makes bladed weapons) So, how does that sound? RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Perseus - 04-28-2011 That would be good but I think the reason Koopaul and Wes said those specific types was because those types aren't very effective against the type that beats it, but the types you suggested are all normal against the supereffective type RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Garamonde - 04-28-2011 I guess it would go scissors, paper, rock in this situation? But that wouldn't work, as good as those types sound... RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Wes - 04-28-2011 Yeah, Rock does normal damage to Grass and Ice does normal damage to Rock, so the weak/strong ratio is kind of thrown off. With Rock/Fighting/Flying, each is offensively and defensively strong or weak to the other types. RE: TSR PokeDex Project - mutantyoshi - 04-28-2011 It works, but it doesn't make sence. Paper being fight while scissors being flying? I know rock beats flying, but for scissors... And having scissors as fighting doesn't fit the concept of R.P.S. Is there another type that's week to rock and another type that is stronger than rock? RE: TSR PokeDex Project - Koopaul - 04-28-2011 No scissors is FLYING. Paper is fighting.
