News sites are being quick to push the idea that $300 is too much for a Nintendo system. I dunno, I feel like the price was reasonable to me. I feel like they're trying to push fights between readers for the attention.

As far as console features go, I saw a lot of things that were very interesting but I feel game developers might not be as skilled as effectively pulling off as Nintendo is hoping for. The HD Rumble feature being a great example of this. I'm not sure some of the cheaper third party developers will have what it takes to take advantage of that precision. It will be interesting to see what develops out of this.

I am SO hyped for Super Mario Odyssey. I know people love the Galaxy games and they are great and all, but I've always preferred the sandbox-style format like in Sunshine over Galaxy's linear gameplay. I was fearful we would never see that format again, but what do you know.

The Breath of the Wild trailer made me cry from nostalgic feelings.

Also that release date is perfect.

I'm so hype for running around Donkey Kong City in Super Mario Odyssey. Seriously I'm loving all those references I hope we get a super-updated remix of the City theme from DK94 hnnnnnggggggh

I'm pretty excited for Mario Odyssey as well....

Finally A game where I can break out all the old "like they say in Brooklyn" memes or old Captain Lou jokes

Yeah honestly if it isn't Breath of the wild that isn't going to determine if I get the switch it's likely going to be mario odyssey and splatoon2

Also Mario Kart 8 deluxe

RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - TomGuycott - 01-13-2017

In retail, preorders seem to be slim because stores don't know how much they are gonna get. Master Edition of Zelda doesn't even seem to have any left and the store isn't even sure when they know how many they will get.

Looking at these gorgeous trailers, I guess I have no choice but to buy a Switch. Battery power is disappointing, but I'm not a mobile gamer anyway.

RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - DioShiba - 01-13-2017

Personally if I'm gonna get it I might wait a bit.

Chances are it's going to be hard to come by at launch and for all I know I'd luck out if I managed to even see if nintendo world would have any pre-orders available if I called and asked by feburary.

It isn't in the habits of Nintendo, since Switch will replace 3DS with their portability. And 3DS performance are too much recessed, also with a 800Mhz ARM processor. For me, the 3DS have too much survived.

Perhaps the 3DS survived on the strength of its games library unlike the other Nintendo console of this generation which has died a very early death

It didn't "survive" this long for no reason

RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - iyenal - 01-21-2017

Yes, but in 3DS case, I think the performance is a too big brake to the creativity (Pokemon...).

RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Goemar - 01-21-2017

I'm going to wait... I mean yeah, I like the concept of the system, and Zelda looks great and all but well - Zelda also looks great on the Wii U.

And, the price is too high. Like, for a new console at the start of a cycle - maybe they would get away with it, but not at this point. I can get a PS4, with a game, for £200. £299 for just the system, and no game... pretty steep. And other consoles have a massive selection of games, while this has very little.

I mean 1-2-Switch looks like ass - who is going to be buying that for £50? Why is this not a pack-in - hell just have it pre-installed on the system.

Also, the fact that the joy-con grip isn't the charging version and that version cost £50 is madness. Hell the god damn dock cost £90. £90! As far as I know it's a piece of plastic that chargers and lets you play on your TV. How can that cost £90? If it was £20 having one for multiple TVs so you can just play your Switch in different rooms on the big screen would be nice.

The whole voice-chat app thing is also very disappointing. Specially for young kids who'd want to play with their friends and may not have a smart phone. And I'm just not sure how it works, like do people in my room just automatically join my chat, is it friends only - just not enough information out there. If it was voice-chat on the system but there is also a smart phone app - sure, that would be fine

And the biggest issue: the 3DS. Nintendo's biggest competition has always been Nintendo. I'm happy enough with Mario Kart, Mario 3D Land etc etc on my 3DS that I never needed a Wii U - the portable versions scratched that itch.
With this, I was assuming the 3DS would be gone. This would be it - the one Nintendo system. You want Mario? You get the Switch. Lots of money for Nintendo.

But well, then Fire Emblem got announced on the 3DS... so well... not a great business move?

RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - TomGuycott - 01-21-2017

I honestly don't think the Switch is replacing the 3DS, nor that it was really intended to. I think they may go that route eventually, but only when they somehow make improvements to the battery life with a new model or something. I mean, isn't the DS and 3DS two of the best selling systems ever? I don't remember, I just thought that was the case, at least at one point. I'd imagine not so much when you split it into groups like the DSi or New 3DS, etc.

RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Goemar - 01-21-2017

I have no doubt the 3DS is doing ok/well. But by not replacing it, there's less reason to get a Switch. I mean if the Switch was say, the only system to play Mario/Pokemon games on, you'd have to get a Switch - but it isn't, there's the 3DS as well.

I never got a Wii U because I had a 3DS - that was enough Nintendo for me. By splitting there IPs across 2 platforms, they're kind of shooting themselves in the foot.

As for battery - it's well, the same as the 3DS anyway, maybe not for Zelda and other "big" games but they could do less powerful games (like 3DS games - of course at the portable game price point) and thus remove that problem completely.

RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - TomGuycott - 01-21-2017

Ah, I misread one of the things you said.

Yeah, I guess that's a legit concern there. In fact the Fire Emblem direct made it even weirder, because there's a new 3DS game, an upcoming Switch game without real info out yet, and then Fire Emblem Warriors on BOTH systems.

I think if I had to pick them, I'd get both the regular titles, but skip the 3ds Warriors in favor of the console version.
