RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Ninspriterx - 04-17-2011 Downloaded Sai an hour ago. I dig it. Just getting used to it. Any pointers? RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - des - 04-17-2011 (04-15-2011, 11:06 AM)Old Man Cerebus Wrote: http://i.imgur.com/xDxGR.png I think youre on the right track with the guy in the center, work on your facial proportions: mouth line/opening is 1/3rd down between nose and chin and that indentation under our lips is 1/2 down between nose and chin. You have REALLY expressive different characters im jellin' hardcore over man also lookit this pls: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=84105 (04-15-2011, 02:12 PM)Old Man Cerebus Wrote: http://i.imgur.com/Hpvw5.png Could be used for a comic/comical image (as long as you avoid lulsrandom ) (04-16-2011, 12:25 PM)Gnostic WetFart Wrote: a few drawings from drawing II class. posted in chronological order. the first one is a guy we had to draw; shaded with charcoal, no line. had either 5 or 10 minutes, i can't remember which. I see really great potential here, I like the character in these but what really helped me in figure drawing was this page: http://www.dhfa.net/Artiststatement2.html I think it will help you alot as well (04-17-2011, 06:35 AM)Ninspriterx Wrote: http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/7499/andrew.png I really need one with smooth lines as well, however sai dont help me much. Diggin the eyes and vinyl hair on this one, i think you could make cool psychedelic art. Up the the contrast on the right side of skull and maybe make the horn stick out more with some carefully placed darks? also i would put some tiny pebbles or something scattered about to unify the piece and maybe strategically place them to push your 3x3 relationship further (04-17-2011, 12:08 PM)Old Man Cerebus Wrote: http://i.imgur.com/HXCdC.jpg graffitis colors seem really pixelarty to me, the colors dont seem to be unified or related too much, and i think it lacks good discerning contrast. the lineart is fine, you just need some extra details in the face hands and clothing and lettering ( I would study some graffiti for good stylistic line thickness) The idea is really good, and i think it just looks off b/c of the low opacity with makes it seem too light to me. Really good volumes on the guy, im gonna recommend you look the the links above and pull some figure studies as you already have a good understanding of volume and weight (04-17-2011, 02:39 PM)Devicho Wrote: http://i54.tinypic.com/108bhqq.png I think you should experiment with fall and spring colors, perhaps add a charm/ribbon/protruding element near the pit of her neck? also i dont know why, but when i looked at this, this poster came to mind: http://www.madman.com.au/wallpapers/summer_wars_511_1680.jpg do with it what you wish RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - MoePix - 04-18-2011 Was testing my new scanner. PixelzMess is me in deviantart. Don't even bother and pay a visit. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 04-18-2011 Quote: Don't even bother and pay a visit.Okay, I won't. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - stache - 04-18-2011 No activity in a week, but spring break finally started, gonna chill with my bros...and do some more collages. This is for a contest on deviantart where you have to have your name in it and words to describe yourself, and this is what I made. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Devicho - 04-18-2011 (04-17-2011, 07:48 PM)des Wrote:What do you think of this minor revision?(04-17-2011, 02:39 PM)Devicho Wrote: http://i54.tinypic.com/108bhqq.png I kinda wanted to add some heart motifs on her somewhere, but couldn't decide how I wanted to go about doing them. I came up with this change earlier, though. Also, what colors would you have in mind? I want her to have pretty unified colors, though I'm going to work on some other designs as well, so I'll have chances to work on different palettes too. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - des - 04-19-2011 hopefully these give you a launchpoint RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Devicho - 04-19-2011 Hmm, I rather like the third one. While I don't plan on doing too much to her current colors seeing as they're like that for a reason, (Her design is based on strawberries, so I thought reds, pinks and some green would be the most fitting colors.) I'll certainly play around with colors like those! RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - des - 04-19-2011 Yeah, since i do have red pinks and reds, you could just shift colors between each design until you find one you like more ideas based off original: when i thin kstrawberries i think this candy: RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - PrettyNier - 04-19-2011 thanks for the link des, im looking at it now. in the meantime, i was out exploring yesterday and found a cool statue. i drew it. http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/206506_10150168564394851_547619850_6716061_8168380_n.jpg thats the reference picture i took, although i drew it from a slightly different angle. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 04-19-2011 see what you're doing with the face, where you're avoiding using contours? Try doing that throughout the whole body! You're still contouring too much I think. Focus on form~ RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Chutzpar - 04-20-2011 Oh, something else I thought of (and sorry for the double post)-- Notice how the shading on the bottom one suggests a curved surface! Looking at the chest and hair it seems you might already have some idea of this approach, but maybe you just kinda went on autopilot once you reached the legs. I'm pretty guilty of this too, you basically just need to slow down and think about how you're conveying something's shape with your shading. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - lord bestfriendgeny - 04-24-2011 just felt like drawin fabric (and pretty vesnas ) RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - des - 04-24-2011 do you like kate beaton RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - tsr moderation staff - 04-24-2011 |
