is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - Karadom - 11-27-2009 as quoted by Tornberry2k from the forum in custom and edited "Fire sonic sprites" "Don't Submit your Sprites if... - They are based on a character who never appeared in an official game or game related media.- Are a character you have invented, such as Suigi, Afro Link or Flonic the Green Echidna." However, there are sprites from the fangame Chrono Trigger:Chrimson Echoes that are fan sprites, such as "Neo Epoch". Is this a loop hole or something? RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - Alpha Six - 11-27-2009 The game exists. That's probably why. RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - Karadom - 11-27-2009 but wasn't crimson echoes a fan game, edited from the chrono trigger rom? RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - Alpha Six - 11-27-2009 I don't know. All I know is that it exists, which is probably why the sheet was accepted. And the sheet wasn't submitted by the creator. I'm not a staffer on the site, I'm just a mod :F RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - Ultimecia - 11-27-2009 Also, it might refer to completed fan-games, not "I'm going to create a character and display him/her off to all over tah world!" Maybe a staffer might enlighten us on this. RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - LeleleleMAXIMUM - 11-27-2009 Plus you have other indie games on there. Oops. RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - Ultimecia - 11-27-2009 Yeah, and I myself ripped Chinese pirate mobile phone games. (OK, Chinese and pirate at the same phrase is redundant, but you got it) RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - TomGuycott - 11-28-2009 Having seen the Fire Sonic sprite submission referred in the beginning of the thread, I'll shed a few differences that I PERSONALLY think make a difference between that and stuff like Crimson Echoes. I'm bound to contradict myself several times... I can feel it! xD but really it all comes down to one thing (which I just came up with after several walls of text). And that, my friends, is why you should STOP RECOLORING SONIC! RE: is there a loop hole in the rules about fan-game sprites? - Dazz - 11-30-2009 Tom's got it pretty much on the head. We don't accept characters that aren't in any game at all, be it a fan made game that isn't rated as 1 star in every review, or a hack of a game which had serious planning and work done. We have pirated games on the site and fan games, but most of you probably wouldn't recognise a difference... Except the pirate sonic/mario/pokemon games because they're just hilarious. |
