Back to spriting. - Gwen - 01-29-2010 Hola, I haven't been in here for a while, anyways, over christmast break I lost my bad mood and thought I could give spriting another try. Well, neither came out the way I wanted to, I seem to be stuck in a JUS like style which I'm not happy with, but anyways, I thought as I get myself out of the hole I dug myself that I'd post the work anyways. So here's two character's, no names yet, might not continue these nescesarily, but without anymore boring to death here we go. Comments and Critiscism are welcomed full heartedly. *Update* added Ahsoka, which I honestly feel accomplished about making. RE: Back to spriting. - Cobalt Blue - 01-29-2010 its like everyone is coming back to spriting yard zone ♥ RE: Back to spriting. - Gors - 01-29-2010 Everyone gets tired from only posting some day~ Those guys you sprited could use better balance: looks like they're leaning to a wall or something. The second one has an air hump, too. This Met's post is from another topic, but I think it works here too (01-28-2010, 10:54 PM)Francisco Cifuentes Wrote: that black lineart would work better if you actually didnt use it everywhere but instead in some parts of the character. for a sprite of such size, the outline does nothing but eat most of the details, and it already has plenty of contrast to make every section to stand on its own. RE: Back to spriting. - Cobalt Blue - 01-29-2010 i'll add a little explanation to that. its not selout, but rather trying to emulate the way you draw a character using thicker lines in some parts to enhace the contrast. the 'thickness' is just the result of how much the black stands out of the rest of the colors thus helping smaller sprites add more details without having to sacrify its size/readbility RE: Back to spriting. - Gwen - 01-29-2010 so what your saying is to not include outlines, or at least black ones in some areas? RE: Back to spriting. - Gwen - 01-30-2010 *Updated* RE: Back to spriting. - Delicious - 01-30-2010 Good sprites. My suggestion would be to not use such dark tones to define ripples in clothes, as it makes them look busy. There are some readability issues as well. Other than that, keep it up. RE: Back to spriting. - Gwen - 01-30-2010 alright! :> |
